EarthBound Is Coming to Wii U's Virtual Console

AH fuck nuggets. Why cant they just put it on the Wii Virtual Console as well?! I mean how fucking hard could that be.

Yep, Nintendo is trying to use the re-release of a 20 year old SNES game on VC to get people to buy a $300 system. And I agree that it should also be released for Wii. It's not an issue of can't, like having a Wii U play GC games, but won't. Those of us who bought games on the Wii VC really hoped for this game (we did get some games we couldn't get easily before), but now we're a little annoyed that Nintendo is doing baiting us instead of rewarding our support.

Why do I not want a Wii U? Besides money, it makes my Wii obsolete as I can't have my VC and WiiWare games on both systems (and I lose my saves if I transfer ) and did end up buying some GC games I play on it as well.

I guess a 3DS release is acceptable, but it is still a thing of principle.

I'm wondering what little changes are going to be made to reduce the odds of a copyright lawsuit. According to this article [http://earthboundcentral.com/2009/02/earthbound-legal-issues/], the SNES release changed a lot of stuff and Nintendo has only grown more wary as the years have gone by.

Also: holy shit, this game is worth a ton on eBay. It always surprises me when I find out one of my video games is worth a couple hundred dollars.

If this was mother 3 I would momentarily consider buying a WiiU, but only momentarily. I have a working SNES and an emulator for mobile, so this is wasted on me. Which reminds me, I need to scan in the strategy guide, the one that came in the massive Earthbound box is falling apart on me.

This is my problem with nintendo waiting 20 years to release the game, I've already played it through an emulator due to Nintendo taking TWENTY YEARS to release it.

It makes no sense what so ever for me to pay their overpriced VC games when my money no longer goes to support those developers who made those great games and are long split up or gone.

Now I can add this to my original copy that I purchased on release, the one that has "CJ" in magic marker on it that I found in a garage sale, the 5 boxed copies that I picked up for free from the owner of a pre-liquidation Blockbuster, my Mother 1+2 cart, and all the figurines, T-Shirts, jackets, keychains, etc...

It's been a while since I was able to directly show support to Nintendo for my favorite game/franchise.

Hey look at that, the best thing to come to the Wii U this year is in fact a SNES game everyone was already able to play on the PC or any other device able to emulate the SNES.

I have no desire to buy a Wii-U, and yet, I'm excited.

Earthbound is one of those games that when it was over, I had experienced an adventure quite unlike any other game. It's the only game I can recall of the two or three that have made me cry.

If Mother 3 gets a release, I will be extremely happy, considering I've never played it before, yet I hear a lot of back and forth on its amazingness (Is that a word? Doesn't matter, it is now).
