I'd buy it in a second if it was available for the 3ds... but as I don't have a WiiU or any intention of picking one up in the near future this announcement is kind of irrelevant to me.

I just hope it comes out close to the end of the year, so I can buy it in the first week or so. There aren't any games to play on the Wii U at the moment, but by the end of the year, I hope to own one.
Yep, Nintendo is trying to use the re-release of a 20 year old SNES game on VC to get people to buy a $300 system. And I agree that it should also be released for Wii. It's not an issue of can't, like having a Wii U play GC games, but won't. Those of us who bought games on the Wii VC really hoped for this game (we did get some games we couldn't get easily before), but now we're a little annoyed that Nintendo is doing baiting us instead of rewarding our support.DVS BSTrD said:

I'm wondering what little changes are going to be made to reduce the odds of a copyright lawsuit. According to this article [http://earthboundcentral.com/2009/02/earthbound-legal-issues/], the SNES release changed a lot of stuff and Nintendo has only grown more wary as the years have gone by.
Also: holy shit, this game is worth a ton on eBay. It always surprises me when I find out one of my video games is worth a couple hundred dollars.

This is my problem with nintendo waiting 20 years to release the game, I've already played it through an emulator due to Nintendo taking TWENTY YEARS to release it.valium said:

Now I can add this to my original copy that I purchased on release, the one that has "CJ" in magic marker on it that I found in a garage sale, the 5 boxed copies that I picked up for free from the owner of a pre-liquidation Blockbuster, my Mother 1+2 cart, and all the figurines, T-Shirts, jackets, keychains, etc...

Hey look at that, the best thing to come to the Wii U this year is in fact a SNES game everyone was already able to play on the PC or any other device able to emulate the SNES.
I have no desire to buy a Wii-U, and yet, I'm excited.
Earthbound is one of those games that when it was over, I had experienced an adventure quite unlike any other game. It's the only game I can recall of the two or three that have made me cry.
If Mother 3 gets a release, I will be extremely happy, considering I've never played it before, yet I hear a lot of back and forth on its amazingness (Is that a word? Doesn't matter, it is now).

I play it from time to time, but i don´t really get why it´s supposed to be so great about it. But cool for fans .
