The value of a civilization is reflected in the quality of it's people.

Not everyone can be accomplished, but everyone CAN be the best person possible.

Everyone can have, for example, a zest for knowledge, appreciation for the arts, stewardship and reverence for the environment, and compassion for others.

Yes, we would be spared if I was the representative. I don't think we'd be so lucky with many people though.

I'm an apathetic, depressed 20 year old who failed out of college in his third semester there, has had two jobs, both of which I've been able to(and have) quit simply by not showing up to work, and spends the majority of his time online.
So no.
We're fucked seven ways to sunday.

What the fuck is "animalizing"? Aliens gonna put us in fursuits?
He means objectifying/quantifying.

We tend to view ourselves with inherent value, but what if some creature didn't?

Edit: I'm also becoming fairly certain WE'RE going to be the superior race judging the children of the heavens. I fear for the universe, truly.

If aliens are impressed by my shameless devotion to hedonism in my twenties, then we're plenty safe based on my adventures.

If they're looking for something more substantial, like charity work or building of great works or wealth or something like that? We're fucked.

I'm young, I haven't made a lot of contributions to society. In high school I did a lot of community service, but I don't think that really goes a long way as far as achievements go. We wouldn't have a chance in hell.

Also, I really don't think another species would have the right to make such judgments. It isn't just human nature that makes us how we are, it's nature itself. I seriously doubt an alien species would be all that different from us, 'enlightened' by space travel or not.

They take one look at me and hit the big red button.
That is to say I haven't really done much.

Real Life? Maybe, but it's all small things that have helped.
Gaming? Maybe...

There is only one game that I've gotten every achievement on, and that's Tenchu Z.
So the end of the world would involve a lot of ninjas. You'd never see it coming.

Edit: That's assuming I'm dumb enough to not read the whole opening post and reply on just the tag line.

My personal achievements honestly seem to be centered around being a musician and not getting myself killed despite a few pretty good efforts to the contrary. Otherwise, I'm ashamed to say that educationally I am only qualified to teach a middle school English class and my current profession has me answering phones all day. So if it was up to me, we would be so screwed.

I haven't done enough to really make a difference.
I've talked three people out of suicide and used to give free rides to people after classes(back in high school)
That's about it.

As far as jumping in on the XBL Achievement crowd...only a paltry 35,802 =/

Probably not, my achievement score in WoW is at an all-time low.
Lol, I was thinking this as I sit alt-tabbed on WoW. My gamerscore on Xbox might be able to make up for my medicore 3800 on WoW. Probably not though, we're all fucked.

Nope. I'd also be utterly baffled why they'd pick a college student for this, as I haven't really gotten to do anything planet-saving yet. Ask me again in 10-20 years.

Oh, are we talking about real life achievements? Ask me again in seven years, and I'll say "We're good!".

But my not-so-real achievements exceeds 32K, so before that seven year mark, I'll just go with that 'n say "Annnnd, we're good!" xD
