Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the EB Games Sydney Expo 2012. Here are some of my impressions.
- Assassins Creed Liberation is pretty cool. The parkour seems very natural and fluid on the PS Vita and the graphics are pretty good.
- Assassins Creed 3 is AWESOME. They had a live session with two of the producers, showing off some stuff they hadn't released to the public previously. The naval combat looks a tad unrealistic but fun, and Boston looks pretty wicked.
- There was another live session with a producer of Halo 4, as he played through all of one story mission. Promethean weapons looks satisfying to shoot, and the enemies seem varied enough. The Covenant seemed out of place, and I couldn't find any other enemies except for Elites and Grunts.
- Company of Heroes 2 looks very similar to the first game, but has big improvements in almost all aspects of the game. The UI is fluid, the combat is tense ad enjoyable, and the new environments are really cool.
- Would have liked to have played the Wii U or Black Ops 2, but the lines for both of them stretched FOREVER. The wait time alone for the Wii U was estimated at two hours. A lot of Nintendo people giving indepth tours to individuals, rather than just letting them screw around. Suppose that's cool, but they did take their time.
- There was a giant red double-decker bus in the middle of the hall, with a robot Zombie grabbing at people from below. This was apparently a promotion of ZombieU.
- X-Com is fun, but that's out now so I guess that doesn't matter.
- Booth babes are hot. Like, really hot.
- Playstation All Stars Battle Royale (did I get that right?) is very fun. Played a four player game against some strangers using one of the vita's they had. The characters seem pretty unique and the Vita/PS3 crossplay was cool, but I am worried a bit about content. Was a blast to play however.
- Fat people shouldn't jump. At all.
- Tomb Raider looks like a carbon copy of Uncharted with more set pieces. I was not impressed.
And that's about it. Pretty fun Expo, not too crowded and it seemed to be organized well.
