I went into EB Games (Gamestop) yesterday, and I was flabbergasted. They're selling used copies of Fallout 3, of which they have TONS for 65 dollars. Brand new games don't even cost that, and these are used copies of a game that's almost a year old.

How? Where do they even get this price from? It's 50 dollars on Steam, Ebay, I can't find more then a couple sales over 40 dollars. Amazon's selling it new for 60 bucks, with used offers at about 45 dollars. Future Shop's selling it new and used for 70... so maybe I should have made a thread about them, but I digress, who cares about future shop - people shop at EB Gamestop because they have a trust that a specialty game store wouldn't royally screw their customers with this sort of crap. Perhaps they're just an uninformed public, but they need someone to stand up on the mountain and shout "YOU'RE BEING SCREWED!!!".. and that someone, after this, will be me.

Where the fuck does Gamestop get off, charging more then full, new game prices for used games? Where did they even get this idea? Is it because of it's expansion pack lineup? Like, they want to sell you this overpriced game with the hopes that you'll come back and spend 20 more bucks on the expansion pack discs?

that's entirely missing the point. Of course I didn't buy it, I saw it for the scam and joke that it was.

someones getting fucking screwed on it, and I'm not happy about it.

Well if they plan on buying it, I think they would notice the difference in price. And that must be you, because the used copies of Fallout at my Gamestop are $30-50.

Well, they're a business and they lower the prices when the games stop selling good. Gears of War was sold at full price for about a year and a half at GameStop.

Their website has Fallout 3 marked used for $54.99 and new for $59.99 ($65 with taxes).
The costumers who are smart enough to look around just don't buy it, the others...well...let's just say that GameStop makes an extra buck off of them and I don't blame them.

every single copy was 65 dollars, new, and used

and I actually spent some time looking around, checking prices, to make sure I wasn't entirely talking out my ass - it's not worth 65 dollars used, but that's what my EB Games is charging.. and it looks ridiculous when there are 14 of them sitting there at 65 dollars a piece.. sort of throws the idea of supply and demand out the window.

standard. there wasn't a copy of Fallout 3 in my EB games for less then 65 dollars.

Maybe it's not threadworthy, but I seriously had to vent.. yeah, they may be trying to make money off of stupid people, but I've stuck behind them through a lot of mud slinging, but I'm done now, lol.

You honestly expected anything less walking into a GameStop? It's been almost three years since I last went to one.

EB Gamestop?

They merged?!=o

Anyway, OT, prices like that are to be expected. Every boy and their dog wants Fallout 3, might as well capitalize off of it.

I've not seen such a thing to be honest. In fact, unless it's some sort of "special case" (special/collector's edition, included periphial etc) the prices seem pretty much fixed around town.

360/PS3 New - 59.99
360/PS3 Used (High Demand) - 54.99
360/PS3 Low Demand - 49.99, 39.99, 29.99, 19.99
360/PS3 Used Low Demand - 44.99, 34.99, 24.99, 14.99, 9.99 4.99 (If it costs five bucks it's terrible)
PC - New - 49.99
Wii New - 49.99
PSP New - 39.99
DS New - 34.99

What's interesting is this pricing trend exists outside of EB/GameStop. In my city, the major competitor is Hastings which follows the same price structure. Walmart follows pretty closely, but they tend to use a seemingly more random number system (30.88 for example).

Hey man back off I work there and used games are 5 dollars less than the new price. For instance Fallout 3 is 59.99 new and 54.99 used. So before you start sayin shit about Gamestop do your goddamn research, and besides if it was 65 dollars thats is with tax.

It's quality of the game. Now I don't know where you went that it was 65, but normally it's the quality of the game, the demand, and how long it's been out. Sometimes the prices there are a bit high, but just give it some time. Maybe I just have a good GameStop, but normally they're reasonable.
