http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/10/what-is-eb-world-and-why-do-they-keep-giving-me-carrots/

Have you seen EB games new loyalty program? (I'm pretty sure this is just Australia and NZ which is odd given the name of the program. One would think GameStop world would be more appropriate)

I just got signed up for it paying off the last of my Skyrim and AC:R pre-orders.

Do you guys reckon it will change your purchasing habits? The only real benefit for me is the receipt free shopping.

And how weird is the whole carrots and rabbits thing?

(Excuse me if I've posted this in the wrong place this is my first thread.)

Considering EB games has the highest price in Auckland, no, absolutely not.
A quick example, Dick Smith is selling Driver San Francisco at 99 dollars, it's 120 at EB games.
They're a rip off and I refuse to shop there.

The best thing about it is that it's free and you get a card.

But nah it won't make me buy any different, EB is the only game store near where I live and short of ordering over the net it is my only choice.

So I guess I'm a loyal EB Shopper? *Shudders*

Those facts aside you also have to keep in mind that they gut their games.

The gutting is why I steer clear of the monstrous fuck puppets.

I want my carrots for pre-ordering Skyrim and MW3 dammit! I don't know, the bonuses seem pretty nice but I don't shop there enough to actually benefit from it.

Well i can honestly say , i don't really care for any of the bouses they give you . Now if they would give me 20% off any game i buy after reaching platinum status , well then id be the first in line . But none of whats there appeal to me at all , plus eb games ( canada, quebec, montreal ) have some of the worst customer service i have ever seen.

There's that too, I think the last game I purchased there was GT4.
Their prices are just too high and it's not a pleasurable experience to shop there, I don't need any reasons beyond that and it's gonna take more than "carrots" to even get me in their doors ever again

Ooh, I'm gonna add another issue to the list, they give me far less trade in credit for my shit than other places. Blow me EB, your bonuses are all shit that other places offer without fucking me over for "carrots" first.

This means nothing to me.
I only ever shop there for limited editions or pre order bonuses...

And I NEVER buy or trade pre-owned.

Ehhh... yeah but it's such a massive pain, you have to get proof that the deal exists (and if it's not in a booklet or something you have to go get a quote from the place for the item or a picture with a time stamp) easier to just get it at the place selling it cheaper rather than to travel back and forth for the exact same price.

Sounds like the equivalent of poweruprewards here in the states. Except we get a straightforward points system. Same concept and everything: get x amount of points per dollar purchase, get double for pre-owned stuff, preorder you get a bit extra. Comes out to around 1,000 points a dollar in terms of rewards.

I'm not too sure about it. I shop there but I'm a PC gamer so trade ins wont be happening. I buy at EB games because it is closer then the other shops to me and I've only really seen about $2 price differences on the new stuff and no-one does cheap older stuff like EB as far as I know.

It is also a little odd that they are signing people up but as far as I can tell they haven't got any of the site up and running.
