eBay question

I'm an eBay virgin and i'm in a bit of a pickle with one of my auctions...

I was looking for a "thing" all over the internet, but everywhere I went it was sold out or really expensive. I turned to eBay as a last resort and, surprisingly enough, they had the "thing" i was looking for at a reasonable price...

There were two auctions and I bid in both of them. I lost one of them and became highest bidder in the other. After my many unsuccessful attempts of finding this "thing" on the net, I continued to look all over the net until I found the "thing" I wanted at a reasonable price. So I went ahead and bought it from the net...while my eBay auction still says i'm the highest bidder...and no one has outbid me yet...

So the clock is ticking down to the end of the auction, i'm still highest bidder and the auction ends tomorrow night....whilst the "thing" I ordered is being processed...

My question is...what the hell am I supposed to do about this?

Do I email the auctioneer, begging them to cancel my bid? Do I run around frantically while the clock ticks down my time?

Yeah, If you've bidded you have to honor it.

People who really want an item often bid at the last minute, so you might still have a chance, but if no one else bids, you have to pay up. You can still sell it back afterwards, though.
