Editing profile?

Pretty new here, just confused on how to edit a profile?
If I click my profile/settings it takes me to what appears to be a user search page and then if I search myself and then hit search it loops me back to the search page.

am I missing something here?

My advice to you is to keep your head up, don't let anyone get under your skin, be polite, stay out of the basement, find out who to blame and, most importantly, have fun!

Now, as for editing your profile you should be able to see your url as "http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view". Then you go to "edit profile details". On your main profile page you can also see options for changing your avatar, changing forum settings (like seeing avatars and getting quote messages) or you can go to "update account information" to change your username.[footnote]Be warned, you can only change your username once.[/footnote]

If you don't see this page, you should probably join this user group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/chat/Tech-Team] and report a problem. You should be able to see the page so there might be a glitch. I hope you have a fun time here and that you'll be able to change your profile the way you like it!

No, just sometimes the site is sort of bugged. Well, around that time you time you asked. It usually goes away in about 10 minutes or so. I think it's due to the most visitors hitting it. It's nothing to worry about, though, it's purely cosmetic and doesn't happen all the time. Just often enough that you can expect it sometimes.

I noticed there seems to be some delay from my posts and them showing up, even hard refreshing seems to load the same data.

Not a big deal just annoying nevertheless.

But I see what you're talking about, I migrated to this from the us.playstation forums as that place is dead. I'd much rather deal with some delay if that means more activity on the boards.

Ah, no that's not a delay. When you make the post, it's there. Only when viewing the forum you may notice lag before the actual contents of the page are refreshed. That's due to server side cashing to save up recreating the page on every request. The posts are there if you view the thread, just the forum itself may take a couple of minutes to show the changes. Yeah, I think it's more noticeable at peak times, or at least sometimes. More often than not, though, I see the forums reflect the latest state of the threads.

Well, unless you're actively just tapping F5, of course. I usually go look at a thread or two, return to the form and it's already changed.

I've just joined the escapist and am having trouble editing my profile... I've gone to the icon and selected "profile" at the top right of the page and I've used the link supplied above and both direct me to a page where I can search for other user profiles but not edit my own... help!

Sometimes there is a delay between when you create your profile and when you can edit it. By the time you read this, that period of time will more than likely have come to an end, and you'll be able to edit your profile.
