Now thats not fair, Eidos gave us one of my all time favourite games.

But yeah, if we're ever gonna get anywhere with mainstream acceptance, we really need to shut down Team Ninja. That doesn't really have anything that redeems it.
Now that's not fair, Team Ninja gave us one of my all time favourite games.
And the reasons for it being your favourite game are far more indicative of the problem at hand.
Personally, I still love Ninja Gaiden, and only partially because of the T&A and gore, but mostly because of the challenge. But I will admit that some games are little better than porn (Heck, some games ARE porn), but there are also games that are genuine works of art.
Like? Unless of course you're referring to games in general, and not just Team Ninjas games.

Oh, and Team Ninjas worst isn't Ninja Gaiden - its Dead or Alive - thats the major drain they have on the industry at large.
Actually, their major drain is DOAX, to be more exact. DOA the fighting games are very good fighting games, DOAX is borderline softcore porn. And yeah, I was talking about games in general.

There is not a British mainstream publisher around that doesn't have offices in Canada due to the government's easy-going outlook and tax breaks when it comes to videogames. I agree somewhat with Livingston, although he is probably not the best role model to be fighting for respect (as Simu points out) or representing the indie studios.
He's really not (through no real fault of his own); you just know some prig of a politician will laugh him down as 'the Tomb Raider guy'.

Foster's comments are pretty encouraging though:
"I hardly play any games - I'm not from that generation - but because of my job, I had to research the industry. The vast majority of my parliamentary colleagues are always wanting to ban the latest game, but they don't know the details of the industry. Few people in this country realise how important it is to the UK economy."

A politician that realsises that just because he doesn't understand it doesn't mean that it is evil and should be banned. If only there were politicians here in Australia that got that. Yahtzee has a great article in the News about this too: http://www.news.com.au/technology/story/0,25642,24493980-5014239,00.html

Ian Livingston has discouragingly claimed that industry outsiders see games as "as the red-headed stepchild of the creative industries, one notch up from pornography."

Sh*t like this makes me So angry, its total BS. what the hell does the colour of a kids hair, or the fact that they are a stepchild have to do with anything else he said in the article? Why use that analogy? No decent human being talks like that or thinks like that about a child or another person. It's quite possibly the single worst quote ive seen on this site and Ive been reading articles here for a long time.

I can guarantee you that if the quote had been "the Black skinned stepchild" or even worse had he used the N word, every single reader of that article would have been outraged, and the article would have been taken down immidiatley. Abuse against someone for the hair colour is a form of racism, no better or worse than skin colour, religion or ethnic background. I suffer from this every day, just walking down the street i get abuse. What is this, the 1950s, Racism is allowed and goes unchallenged? now its even being reported online and nobody bats an eyelid!

Please, take down this Awful article, and while you're banning me for swearing, find Ian Livingston, string him up, and shoot him.
