Jesus Christ. That review was more like a monotone advertisement than anything else.

You love ESO? Well look at that. Because not everyone does. For one one that loved it, there is another that hated it. Its only 10 points above Goat Simulator, an indie game meant to be garbage. Its on the same level as Banished, a cheapo game made by one man. Every single thing that he talked about could be done in Skyrim, a much cheaper and objectively better game. In fact, all the MMO bonuses could be done in F2P or more established MMOs like Planetside 2, EVE, DCUO, or APB. Or they can be done in online games like Day Z, Rust, etc.
If he took out all the obvious stuff present in all modern MMOs like crafting, no classes, and PVP it would be entirely made up of the same shit that Angry Joe talked about.
And I did look into the guy, he owns a guild. In ESO. So of course he is going to be "fairer" if it gets people to possibly join his guild.
Umm... Angry Joe also made a guild so that argument means precisely nothing.
I'm not even going to reply to your argument about metacritic.
And ESO does a lot of things different/better than other MMOs that it deserves credit for. It also does a lot of things worse, and I will freely admit to that. But an MMO isn't simply a checklist. you cant just look at an MMO and say:
Crafting- check
combat-check
raids-check
quests-check
PVP- none
4/5- 80%
It's the execution that matters, and the crafting system in this game is one of the best I've seen in any game ever, not just counting MMOs. The combat, while it has some issues like the sometimes unresponsive weapon toggle, some skills and passives not working properly, and some skills being unbalanced, I still think that the combat is better than Skyrim and better than most other MMO's that I've played (full disclosure: I haven't played that many MMOs)
Questing feels like it has a purpose. The fully voiced (albeit sometimes poorly) characters and meaningful stories do way more for me than most MMO's "Kill 10 x and bring me their kneecaps" or even Skyrim's "my magical macguffin got stolen by bandits and is now at the end of a dungeon two thirds of the way across the map" quests. Quite a few of the quests offer meaningful and often very grey decisions to make. While these decisions rarely affect more than the immediate consequences of the quest and the characters involved they still make for interesting choices that feel important.
I could go on about the positives in more detail if you like but I don't want to bore you.
I also want you to know that I'm not just a blind fanboy for this game. There are a lot of things this game does poorly and needs to improve on. There is no PVP dueling or battlegrounds, just the massive open world battleground of Cyrodiil. The zones aren't always paced very well and for completionists like me, I always end up overleveled for my PVE quests before I fully finish the zone. The games grouping mechanics can be wonky. I haven't personally had issues with them because I only play in groups with my girlfriend and we only play on those characters together, but for people who may have leveled separately, it can be a pain to group. There are quite a few glitches and skills that dont work properly but these are being dealt with. The game had pretty bad bot and gold seller issues, however the devs are taking active measures against them including sending GMs out to manually ban them. The veteran content seems to be poorly thought out and a bit lacking so far. I could go on.
I'm not blind to the issues this game has, but I can tolerate them because this is, overall, a GOOD game. And it doesn't deserve anywhere close to the amount of (mostly) blind hate it's getting in my opinion. This game is definitely not for everyone, and it's definitely not Skyrim Online, but it is a good game. It is not, in my opinion, a cynical cash grab. The devs for this game are listening to the feedback and criticism and responding openly to it. They did an AMA just last week and answered a lot of helpful questions. With an attitude like I'm seeing from these devs, I have a lot of hope for this game getting better and winning people back eventually. I just really wish people would give it a chance instead of just ruling it out as a cynical cash grab. If it's not your thing, fine don't play it, don't waste your money on it, I understand.

Opinions, gotta love em.
I for one completely agree with Angry Joe. And I've played the game for a fair bit.
Playing with other people who are not exactly on the same quest as you are is tedious at best. I started a character with 2 other friends. We played together for a bit, so far everything was fine. Then, we each took differently timed lunch breaks, and decided we'd continue to quest and just catch up.
This lead to the stupid, and unforgiving case that in some zones my friends would suddenly dissapear. Phase out, because I already did a quest there and was in a different phase. I just saw their floating arrow. I didn't see the mobs they saw, I couldn't help them, I couldn't even heal them.
That, right there, is the game's most stupid and biggest flaw. It breaks up parties. There is no excuse for this.
"But WoW has that too." No, WoW has a different phase for after a whole Quest chain. Not single quests.
Then there is the fact that so much classic Elderscroll content has been outright removed to make this into a bland MMO.
Where are the Illusion spells? Stealing is now rumoured to be added. Alteration spells? Conjuring has been utterly squashed.
Sorry, but to me, this game feels like nothing more then an empty, cashgrabbing, formulic, dead-inside, raised corpse. (another thing removed from the game)
I just want to reply to your post to mention a few things. Your criticisms are valid. Those are real issues that the game has. However they are taking strides to fix them. Do I think that the PC version should have been delayed a few months to iron out more of the problems with the game? Probably. However they have been doing a fairly good job so far with updating and fixing bugs and a ton more fixes are coming in the next content patch.
Zenimax has already announced that in one of the next few patches they will be attempting to fix the grouping situation. I dont know how exactly they plan to do this, but they are working on it.
They have also confirmed that they will be adding spell crafting to the game and that it will follow the traditional spell classes of elder scrolls games (conjuration, alteration, restoration, illusion)
And that the thieves guild and dark brotherhood will be coming with a new justice system. The justice system is still in an early prototype so they havent released too many details but that will be upcoming in a few months hopefully.
So maybe you should check back every few months to see if those issues are fixed to your satisfaction and resub if they do get fixed
I'm gonna go back to happily enjoying my game though. Have a good day
