Well since Johnny boy stepped down the company has been making some very positive steps so if this new guy continues the new trend I'll be contempt.

He can start by not fucking up Mirror's edge 2, that'll get him some brownie points.

Hmm ... the company is having problems financially. Stock prices are down. Budgets are out of control. Seems like an excellent time to promote from within.

EA's business plan seems viable. Unfortunately, PC sales is not doing a lot for them, so I can't blame them for going to free-to-play, even though I absolutely hate that model.

That's one fantastic Freudian slip you've got going there.

On topic: I can completely see the Vegas magician look there. As for the press statement, lots of words saying very little, but with every indication that EA will continue to ensure I don't buy their games.

"best gamer company in the world"???? if he does the same crap as before, then they will be announced again the worst company in america. if there would be an award for worst gaming company in the world, EA would win it.

unless he does make some changes (which i doubt) like having discount on origin and giving other companies time to do a game, then he might get away with it.
but for now, i dont trust him.

Now, I won't judge before I see him actually make some decisions about-OK I'm lying I'm totally going to judge. Past involvements: Origin, and the team that releases the same sports titles over and over. Opening speech: "culture of execution that will drive profitable growth." That's some A-grade corporate jobspeak right there. I am not optimistic.

I will however quite happily eat my words if he proves me wrong, which I really hope he does.

(I mean really, culture of execution, the frell even is that!?)
Well EA has been executing its good studios for those that pump out cheap money grabbing crap. So technically he's being honest and correct.

OT:So it sounds like EA will continue to go down the route that makes me not care about them. Thanks I'll save money in future then.

Well at least he doesn't seem to be a psychopath. You know, like Kotick, Ballmer, Riccitiello etc. All of them are obvious psychopaths.
Oh come on, at least give him a chance to get settled before deciding he isn't a psychopath. He's probably just nervous right now and will start with his dark machinations when he is comfortable.

Dull guy it seems. so at least we wont have fun like with psichopaths. the corporate speech wasp retty much corporate. standart report to shareholders. this is nothing. what will really happen we will see once he starts acting. He seems to know his beourocracy at least, so could be far less "evil leaks" from his side. for better or worse. you know, the problem you dont see is the problem ou dont think about.

I think aiming for something a little more achievable might be a better solution, like not winning the Consumerists Golden Poo award three years running.

Remember, baby steps.

Wait, EA has been selling analogue games?

That aside, I really can't see great things coming from putting the head of the "Identical Annual Sequels With Nothing Changed Other Than A Few Names" division in charge. In fact, I'm not even sure why they even need a head of the sports division. Don't they just get an intern to copy and paste the new team lists in? What has this guy been doing for the last 13 years?

It's a corporate speech. We'll have to wait to see what kind of actions this guy will take, honestly, i don't have any real hope, he was nominated to please shareholders, not customers...

formerly the executive vice-president of EA Sports and Origin.
Welp, GG EA. It's been a wild ride, but I think this is a pretty shitty idea.

Ex Executive Vice-President of Origin? I loved that Company!

Ultima RPGs.. Groundbreaking Graphics, great story. Deep gameplay. What are people so up in arms about?

We have no idea if the article is talking about Origin studios or Origin piece of shit malware.
'Sides, FIFA and Madden aren't exactly inspiring much confidence here (not that you can vary much in those franchises... I mean the game doesn't exactly change its rules with time).

We'll have to see and hope that this guy has the brain, the balls and the passion to turn EA around and make them a good company again. But seeing as he hasn't yet axed Origin piece of shit malware, I don't think this guy is going to be it. Meaning I'm going to wait for EA's stock price to drop below a dollar, and buy the majority share of the company for a few ten K and get the shit done properly.

From the article: "I also believe EA's strategy is sound. Our focus on our talent, our brands and our platform together with our investment in next-generation consoles, mobile and PC free-to-play, as part of our ongoing transition to digital, is right," he wrote. "But we have plenty of work ahead to ensure our collective success."

He then went on to say that he will show gamers his true power, let out a blood-curdling evil laugh, then disappeared from the stage in a burst of sulphur and flame. In all seriousness, this is problematic but unsurprising. He's touting the obsessive quest to kill used games from his very first day with his "transition to digital" remark. That's what really worries me.

I'm not an expert on corporations, but I don't think any company has ever made someone Executive Vice President of a piece of software before. That'd be like saying I am Commander in Chief of my PC.
