I've been listening to more and more electronic music recently. I normally listen to the many subcategories of metal and thus have almost no experience with the MASSIVE number of electronic groups and genres. From what I can tell, I've mainly been listening to Aggrotech, EBM, Futurepop, Darkelectro, and Synthpop.

Some of the actual groups:

Neuroticfish
C-Drone Defect
Flesh Field
Etro Anime
Juno Rector
Innerpartysystem
E Nomine

Any suggestions for some similar groups I should look into?

Daft Punk may be too much house-like for your taste, but it's essentially electronic and awesome music, so I recommend it.

Oh yes. Those genres make up most of my collection.

Assemblage 23 - Some of the best lyrics in music.
VNV Nation - Hit and miss but 'Legion' (no relation to my name) is one of the best songs ever.
Apoptygma Berzerk - They have done some superb covers of Metallica songs.
Rotersand - Check out 'Almost Violent' and 'Alive'
Mind.In.A.Box - Hard to describe but very good.
Lights of Euphoria - Not a lot of great songs, but a few very good ones.
Informatik - 'The world Belongs to Us' is a must listen to.
Icon of Coil - Made by the same person as Combichrist (Aggro Tech band)
Fictional - Not quite as upbeat as the others but still good.
Culture Kultur - Pretty good.
Covenant - Probably the least obscure of all of these bands 'Call the Ships to Port' is a must listen to.

Plus many more. I also know some heavier stuff which comes under Industrial or Aggrotrech. Not sure if you will like it though. I shall suggest a bunch if you like though.

I assume this means you hate it for some very original reason?

KMFDM, they play a strange hybrid of Metal, electro, Ebm and occasionally reggae!
Front 242
Frontline Assembly
Both of the Above are considered pioneers of the genre!

I don't actually know much about this leccy music but I used to have to play it as a DJ! So it was a quest to find stuff that I didn't hate!

If your more into the trippy stuff may I suggest the Ozric tentacles or Eat Static! They are more my kind of stuff as I'm a bald hippy more than anything.

Also Covenant
APB (Whose actual name I can't spell!)

There a bit poppier.

Pop Will Eat Itself are quite electronic in places

For Nu Wave classic music try Devo in my opinion the worlds greatest electronic band of all time!

I fear Legion has put my knowledge to shame whilst I was writing this!

Hope this is a bit of help, I can do more research if you need as I work with 2 EBM Dj's!

Just gave Covenant (Call The Ships To Port) and VNV Nation (Dark Angel and Legion) a try and I like what I'm hearing so far. I guess I was right when I listed EBM and Synthpop as good genres.

Dark Angel is another good one. I love 'Saviour' by VNV Nation too, but it has no vocals so that may or may not appeal.

'SlowMotion' is a great one from Covenant, but it's quite slow so again, that may not appeal comparing it to other stuff listed.

Like all bands these artists will have some great stuff and some terrible ones, there's too many of both for me to list.

Combichrist, if you haven't already seen them...

WARNING! Bad language in that vid.
Agreed. The best songs in my opinion being 'Today I woke to a rain of blood' and 'This Shit will Fuck you up'.

For example:

Infected mushroom

Autechre
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSd1HaizvmQ

For electronic one can find nice clips from
http://www.kahvi.org/

Trance and some electronic dance are the things that I have listened. Preferrably non-vocal. Beat and nice melody makes the song for me :)

Since Legion listed several of the ones I would have recommended, I am left with Infected Mushroom (psytrance) and Pendulum (DnB). Personally, I find a lot of good electronic (and otherwise) music in the Touhou spectrum. Diremagic on Youtube has uploaded tons of these (about 6000), and he's just one example. There are tens of thousands of Touhou songs, and most of them are ok while some are awesome. Cytokine, Rolling Contact, Sound Holic, Syrufit.. they all do a lot of good electronic remixes from Touhou.
For instance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKqPeAmMHII

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pThu8eaL9js
My favourites are composed of mostly Touhou music by now.
