Elite: Dangerous Kickstarter

Hello there Escapists,

I know there's a ton of Kickstarter threads already, but this one is particularly special to me and close to my heart.

Elite: Dangerous the next game in the Elite series, the game that brought us sandbox gaming and open ended gameplay. Millions of stars, hundreds of players and unlimited freedom.

Sounds good to me, Elite and Frontier Elite 2 consumed far too much of my spare time than I would like to admit but if anybody deserves to have a game made and stick two fingers up at major publishers it's David Braben.

There are just under 2 weeks remaining and they need another £400k to make the dream a reality. And now we've all survived the Apocalypse we can go about making the world a better place, and that means having Elite: Dangerous in it!

I acknowledged the deluge of kickstarter threads, however there may be some people who are not aware of it who might like to pledge.

Just a quick update, Elite: Dangerous has broke the £1,000,000 mark with around 7 days to go to raise he remaining £250,000. If you want to help see it over the line feel free to throw a few pounds/dollars/euros at them over the next week or so!

"if anybody deserves to have a game made and stick two fingers up at major publishers it's David Braben" - is that the same David Braben who spent years campaigning against used game resales? Basically arguing that years of property law should be rewritten so that when you bought a game you didn't actually own it? Because that David Braben struck me as a bit of an arse and I game on PC where used games are a mostly an irrelevance due to cheap online deals. Elite was good, mind.

Fair point, I agree that used games are beneficial to consumers, but the have no tangible benefit to devs or publishers so he is going to argue that point isn't he?(Although they can contribute to sales of sequel etc. if it gets more people interested in a particular franchise) Not defending his publisher/developer stance on that, but I imagine most of them would say the same thing.

I would like this game to be made though so get your hand in your wallet!
