I just saw this article: http://www.engadget.com/2014/11/10/elon-musk-satellite-internet/

And I though that maybe this whole net neutrality thing won't even be an issue for long. Some of the things that Google has been doing lately already threatens the largest ISPs in the US with obsolescence, and now Elon Musk wants to take that further and give you low-cost unrestricted internet access via these satellites.

The only problem is though, the US is not a free market society. It just isn't. Deal with it. Politicians make decisions based on the bribes from companies such as these big ISPs. There's no fair competition there. So that could potentially threaten the development of this idea. But other than that, if this takes off, ISPs are kind of done. No one will need Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner etc. when you can have Google fiber and Elon Musk's whatever he's gonna call it. It won't happen over night, but if it happens at all it will signal the ISPs that they need to reevaluate how they do business. If they end up unable to bribe the politicians to ban Elon Musk from doing this, then they will have to adjust their business model and drop the idea of killing off net neutrality in order to stay competitive. Already we have tech giants like Facebook and Google campaigning for net neutrality. And the pressure from Google is probably why Obama even bothered to release that statement in the first place.

I'm still processing all of this. Much of it is a mush in my head, and writing it down like this seems to help me organize my thoughts, so I thought I might as well share some of it with you. So let's discuss this. Share your thoughts on this. Ideas, possibilities, whatever comes to mind.

Making it a non issue only happens when it becomes Law. the EU has had it for about a decade, and it hasn't effected the ISPs profitability in the slightest, Also hasn't stopped them trying to get it repealed.
