This new world confuzzles me.

"Emo" used to be a genre of music, thats all. Today, the mix of "Scene Fashion" and general complaining-too-much-ness has become "emo", and its just another way of showing off and being "non-conformist" by being conformist... Conformist is an over-used word btw, just give it up ok?
Yeah I here this a lot from those that call them selves emos and my eye brow pops up every time I here it. I'm like "So to be non-conformist, you conform to the emo subculture, dressing like they do, listening to the same music they do... Just so you can be your self and away from all those conformist sheeps?" of course the usual retorts are either "You don't understand me" or "I don't care what people think about me".

Again both of those arguement fall flat as I've already demonstrated a great understanding of his/her situation and the rest is pretty much:

"Emos" tend to complain about such silly things, things that almost EVERY teenager has a "problem" with, but they are the only ones comlaining about it... Your father doesn't understand you, of course not your a teenager! GAAH!
As you put it best :D.

Then the second arguement is thrown straight out of the window when you look at the price of the clothes on their backs. Do they mean to tell me that they pay all that money on those skull chains, black leather jackets and black hair dye just to show that they don't care what people think about them?. Not to mention the amount of time they must spend applying make up and gelling their hair. No, I don't buy that, you don't spend that much time, money and effort on your appearance just to show people you don't care.

Not caring is getting up on a morning, putting clothes on you've been wearing for weeks and just walking about without a care in the world because you was too lazy to change your clothes.

I know many goths dress like that with the leather jackets and so forth but at least they don't have that added "I don't care" pretentiousness.

As for the O.P though, I can't say emos are anything like thugs. Chav's are more like thugs.

Not much of a dumb question if you live outside of Britain. They are pretty much scum, kids with no prospects in life who go around in gangs dressed in either Burberry or cheap tracksuits, drinking, doing drugs and attacking passer-bys.

They tend to be extremely thick and violent. They tend to be shit in a fight but they fight in groups so they make up for the fact that they don't know how to throw a punch by just ganging up on people.

Here let this kid explain it to you:
