Done, before. The thread was called gaming tearjerkers, and there was another thread which was a poll with the same topic.
Normally I'm against this kind of deja-naziing, but it was like a day ago.

Yeah, I usually don't post things like that. Unless the thread was within a day or 2 of the original thread.
Still, Nilicifer specified that the staff prefers that people always go with old threads. I usually don't jump on people unless I'm feeling particularly snappy, or they make threads I made. Which has happened a handful of times recently.

I don't care for this thread as it is, but it brings up an interesting point to me.

One of the things that was touted about Fable 2 was that they were trying to capture emotions in their game. Like that you'd love your spouse etc. or at least that you'd feel that they love you.

I felt nothing.

They totally failed in that regard.

Yep.
It's really hard to make someone love 1's and 0's.

Fable failed because your spouse completely lacked a personality. I love my girlfriend because she's smart, funny and understanding, not because she gives me +5 to my constitution every time I slip her the spicy hotdog.

There was, according to the dev diaries, supposed to be a more protracted romance sidequest, where you'd actually have to romance the person you liked, get to know their likes/dislikes, give them gifts, take them on dates, all of that stuff

it turned out to be just like Fable 1 - walk into town, wiggle your butt in girls faces, and they fall head over heals for you in about 20 seconds :p

I simply wore nice clothes in Fable 2 and EVERYONE in town of the appropriate interest group were head over heels in love with me and proposed marriage every ten seconds or so. I couldn't leave buildings for suitors blocking the doorway. And yet I felt NOTHING for anyone, even the dog. No emotions, zip, zilch, zero, nada. In fact, Fable 2 might have been the absolutely blandest game I've ever seen emotion-wise, and that it tried to be so deep makes it even more pathetic. But what do you expect when every none-story NPC's has less character than a piece of expired celery? Heck, even the courting in twenty-year-old "Pirates!" was more engaging (no pun intended), and that is NOT a good review.

On the flip side of the coin, the Yakuza games plays your heartstrings quite nicely.
That is good storytelling, Mr. Molyneux. Perhaps you should have stuck with Populous - self-important gods suits your ego better.
