Empire: Total War Trailer

I made this thread to

1) Find out how many Total War fans are on this site and

2) Have said fans discuss the new Empire trailer

I think it was good, showed a lot of gameplay-looking stuff for a first trailer, gives you an idea of what the game will look like. And it looks good.

I have always loved the Total War Games. They are the only medieval strategy games in which archers can actually shoot as far as archers were able to shoot. I understand the reasons behind gimping their range in other games... but come on. They could throw a rock farther than those arrows could shoot. Same for seige weapons.

Oh look, I got a catapult. Now let me push it right up next to their walls and start shooting

It looked awesome good. Unfortunately flashy action-packed trailors show nothing about things that really make a total war game worthwhile those being the AI, the combat and strategy map gameplay. Also based on the map most of the world is in the game so they had better not have less 500 cities or I'm going to stick to Rome and Medieval 2.

P.S. I mean as my favorite ones. I've loved TW too long not to give Empire a chance.

People always think how cool a Total War game would be in modern times, or a WW2 Total War, but I really doubt the developers would do that. That would take away from the whole "building an ancient empire" idea that Total War is based around.

Good point.
How about one set in the future, where you could go into space and build an empire?

Unfortunately there's no gameplay sequences so I can't say if I'll get the game or not, but I do like the others of the series.
