Who has given up on getting classic consoles like the SNES in good condition and has opted for getting a new console that is made to play the classic game cartridges? I've been jonesing to play some of the classic games at our store. I decided to go with the NES or SNES partly based on advice in an earlier post I put on here (thanks guys). The problem is, it seems like everybody and their dog wants a classic Nintendo console too. None of the stores in my area have any anymore. Even our store can't keep NES's, SNES's, nor Dreamcasts in the store these days. It's a great problem to have. Apparently, the classic console revival is upon us.

I broke down and bought a new store brand console at Play N Trade that plays both NES and SNES games. It dosen't feel like the most sturdy console on earth, but it's working so far and only cost me $60 (price of a brand new Xbox 360 game in some cases), so I'm not out much if it quits working. I can borrow games from the store for a week for free since I work there (sweet!). So between this new unit and my trusty Atari 2600, I've got lots of retro gaming for my days off now.

I'm wondering what emulator consoles other escapists have tried and what your experiences have been with them.

You can play alot of classic games on Wii through their store.

Also you can always just download an Emulator and Roms... OHNOZ EXCEPT PIRATING BUBBLE BOBBLE IS DESTROYING THE INDUSTRY!!!11ONE

*Phew* thought only crazies would "pirate" a game; ZOMG, Ur one o themz!!!
The Computer (I use it) is probably the best option, however I find it slightly unethical if you don't actually have the games (I think of ROMs and ISOs as more reliable and much easier to get to than any other quick back-ups)

Is it really that bad to download a .ROM of game that isn't in circulation anymore? I found it hard to find any of my childhood favorites anywhere near here.

But to answer the OP's question I never had tried any console knock-offs.

It is if Nintendo is milking them for cash in the Wii store, apparently.

IMO, no, not really. I don't feel a pang of guilt downloading anything that can't be readily found in a store or aquired readily in a legal method online. And no, I do not count paying (whatever it is a Wii costs) just to play old SNES games as "readily availible".
