Encyclopaedia Dramatica, once great bastion of lulz and internet cautionary tales, is dead; its replacement being ohinternet.com, a sanitized mundane clone of Know Your Meme.

Discuss.

So it is down? It wasn't just me.

I'll miss it... sort of.

I mean, it was the place I went to if there was some internet phenomenon I wanted to know more about.

WOOHOOOOO!!!! *cele-E-BRATE GUwd TIMEZ CUM ONn*
i will not miss it, ever (seriously if i wanted to be offended by words i'd either read my own crap or Twitlight!)
which in a way is a pity as at one point i DID enjoy read their Hellsing articales...before it got changed. one to do with goths, women/females/men/males/sex, legacy of kain/FF/RE/Silent hill and some movies, DA people (before changes were made and all the funny stuff was removed)and one on Arnold Schwarzinegger (which was hillarious!)
but i haven't gone anywhere near that site since...bugger...was it 2008???.... *shrug* (who cares)
but which ever arsewipe went round and took all the funny stuff out of the articals basically killed the place off
so i'm glad it's gone to be honest

now onto the next offensive website! :D

I'm still disturbed by the "Are you offended" page. So I don't really care that much that it's going away. But still...that poor deer D:

It's gone? I hadn't perused it in a while, it was a bit disturbing most of the time, but I got a few chuckles there.

Ohinternet is girlvinyl (owner of ED)'s blog site.

Ed is down so that is being used as a placeholder while ED gets some work done (from what I've heard).

Hope the site stays on, it's equally offensive to EVERYBODY, a true bastion of freedom of speech, howhever horrible the people related to the site might or might not be.

guys? are you joking? ED was a sick place of porn, memes and bad humour! Uncyclopedia is funnier, tamer and more interesting anyway. ED was dead long before it was made...

My sister saw this. We don't see it being like this for long.
Our theory was that they were trolling the masses by "censoring" themselves.

I will miss ED. Had some good times on that site, regardless of whether other sites were better or not.

I think it's retarded how it's now just a clone of Know Your Meme.

You'll be happy to know that ED is alive and well, and living in Switzerland. It's being reconstructed as I type at http://encyclopediadramatica.ch and doesn't look quite the same yet, but a lot of the original content is there in some form, with more on the way.

I thought ED was funny and culturally important, and it was a big mistake for the original sysops to delete the existing content, if they needed to move to something different fair enough but it wouldn't have killed them to retain the original texts in archived form or at least give their users some warning as to what was happening. Of course it's clear that outside pressures have forced the move but regardless, it was handled very badly, and no doubt they'll pay for their PR blunder.

Oh Internet is very unfunny and doesn't capture ED's spirit at all. Perhaps that's the point, but either way I'll never visit it again now that the new ED is up.

I'm cautiously optimistic, considering it seems put together by a dedicated group of users, but I heard that OhInternet threatened to sue anyone trying to use the Dramatica likeness and logo.

I just hope that if this NewDramatica rises and prospers, it'll go back to its roots of charting memes, being absolute in its fearlessly Un-PC irreverent humor, and tracking drama whores and telling of their idiocy as a lesson to all, instead of being a poorly edited trough of personal attack/dox drop articles and unfunny jokes.

Man...Ol' Dirty BTard must be spinning in his grave right now.
