I have recently read the revised version of the Ender's game and it is awesome and i heard that the movie will be on screen next year, i really hope that they don't destroy it by doing another version of starships + transformers mash up, but i think there are little battles inside the book to portray it on screen, like to see more of the psychological impact caused on Ender and how society even in the future never changes.

Provided it sticks to psychology, it'll be fine. If the director decides to douse Battle School with glitzy special effects, it'll be a mess. I just really hope that it gets remembered that the "final test" is supposed to look like a test and not like the real thing.

Don't pull a Verhoeven, even if it's good. If it's faithful to the themes and makes it R, I will watch it. Those are my first two thoughts :p.

just of the top of my head i think it's going to be very difficult to create a faitfull adaption of the film, i remember readin somewhere that the shower scene with Rat was very difficult to get through pre-production, let alone get it filmed in a good way.

But it might become a decent movie anyways. just not necessarily a very good adaption.

Seriously, they're making a movie out of that thing?

Please, please I am begging the movie gods to not make this suck. This could go either way and I would really love to see this movie become a masterpiece. However I think it will be hard to make it revolve around the psychology rather than the violence and the sci-fi battles.

Sadly I have a feeling that the special effects and making every bit look awesome will take a bigger part than what actually made it a good book. I hope the same as you and I can't wait to see how they do.

Ohh damn now I have to read the book fast before it comes out =o

One of those books I never got round to reading
Really worth reading. And by that I mean read it now. NOW.

Anyway, muchly looking forward to it. Though I'm slightly nervous that the director is the same that directed X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Oh, and this is the kid playing Ender:

I always get nervous when any of my favourite books are being turned into films. It very rarely works out well as directors/producers tend to take the parts from the book that have the widest appeal and focus on that so what you're left with is a watered down version.

I predict that that exactly what Veylon mentioned will happen. In order to get the largest audience possible the battle school will be the main focus and it will be full of glitzy special effects and the depth of the story will just be washed away.

I really hope I'm wrong though

On a side note to the OP, glad that you liked the book, tis one of the classics of SF. However, if you haven't already, read the following books in the Ender Series 'Speaker for the Dead' 'Xenocide' and 'Children of the Mind'. In my humble opinion I actually think they're better (well except maybe Children of the Mind but I still enjoyed it).

I doubt it can be done really, I mean the main character is what 8 or something like that? I don't think there are many actor that old that can really carry a story as violent and brutal as Ender's Game. Nevermind how much time Ender spends naked in the book. And if they age him up to much then the whole point of the book becomes lost.

It's useless to speculate right now. The movie has not come out yet.

Wait until we get closer to the release date when more info is available before speculating.

It didn't seem like a good candidate for a movie adaptation to me. I wonder how they are going to handle the game with the giant and all that.

I did like Starship Troopers: The Movie a lot better than Starship Troopers: The Book though. It can be done.

Its a short novel so if it is being directed well i think that story could be adapted fully into a 120 min movie. The mood should be depressing like in the novel and if the kid manages to do this, he might get an award of something.

Oh and if they try to add any form of humor in this movie....

As for the movie, it will almost certainly be shit but there is a small chance it could be go-

OH SNAP, IT'S THE DIRECTOR WHO DIRECTED X-MEN: WOLVERINE, HAHAHAHA
You know, that last sentence there crushed all my hope for this movie being good. I guess it's good that I didn't have the time to get my hopes up for this movie yet. Hopefully I will get a positive surprise... not likely though...
