Personally, I subscribe by the idea that if you pirate a game and like it, you should then buy a copy to support the developer. If you didn't like it, don't pay for it. It's kind of like renting games, in a way, but most people don't buy a game that they rented and liked.
Piracy is the same as renting.

The developers get no money when people rent games.

At all.
Word? Then i've been destroying the gaming industry all through my youth. Maybe if they didn't cost FIFTY GODDAMN DOLLARS.

Ya know what, I'm gonna just start using Piracy for every excuse possible. It seems to work great.

--
"You're breaking up with me?! WHY?!"

"Piracy..."

"That makes no sense"

"Shut up you pirate, I can only go on 3 dates with you, then I can't date you anymore. Unless you marry me."

--

"Why is your paper late?!"

"Piracy...someone downloaded my paper on bit-torrent and put a virus in it..."

"Wait a minu..."

"PIRACY IS THE END OF ALL ARGUMENTS! IT IS BETTER THAN GODWINS LAW!"

--

"Global Warming is killing everything!"

"pirates...I have proof!"

Oh shit, less piracy = end of the world! Eradicating it came back and bit us in the ass!

Piracy is the new Godwins Law!

Yeah it's kinda ironic- is it even POSSIBLE to pirate steam games?

It is possible, I know somebody who has a cracked version of the orange box. I'm guessing it takes a lot of work though.

It's very possible to pirate Steam games, the means are out there (emulated Steam authentication and the like). Steam is not the panacea for piracy a lot of people seem to think it is. It makes it a little harder, yes, and might make it less worthwhile for some people to do so. But it isn't a cure. Frankly, I don't believe piracy is THAT large an issue, it's just the latest excuse for developers and publishers to put out there when they make boneheaded mistakes. It's a scapegoat. Bitching about it here, though, is a waste of time, the choir already believes the preacher.

So, F them if they don't want to release a game on PC. It's their right to not do so, but I just wish they'd try being honest for a change, I get tired of being lied to by corporations.

Well, developers do get a bit of cash from the rental companies buying copies to begin with, but that wasn't my point. My point is that by downloading the game, you can pay nothing, rather than a rental fee, and then decide to pay the developer for it by buying a copy. Most people, when they rent, will beat a game, return it, and not ever pay the developer a dime.

I don't want a bloody console port, I have no intention of paying for a hand-me-down game.
This leaves me with either the option of not purchasing the trash, or stealing it out of spite. I'm thinking I'll go with the first option.

All Piracy does is cut out the middle man.

Are you saying that cutting out the middle man is bad? That's what started happening to the music industry, and not many people complained then.

A big fat *yawn* from me on this one. Ubisoft long ago lost any chance they had of getting my money when they put StarForce on everything. The fact that all my gaming dollars go to Stardock and Paradox Interactive means there's just none left for game companies that don't know how to treat their customers.

It is actually quite easy and you can do it right off the Steam server. There is a program that creates game cache's, saying you have bought the game and you can download it from the Steam servers, though naturally your account instantly gets banned if you try to play online or play while in online mode too much. Pirates can eventually get to anything. Now while I seem like ye booty nickin' scurvy dogg, I say steam games are the most worth the money, next to StarDock games and I prefer to purchase my games off Steam or from Stardock.
Online play in any game on Steam is always great (well, in most cases) which is mostly around Valve games. The prices are very reasonable (except for CoD4 which was originally $50 and now $80) and the customer service is all out lovely. Stardock adds in things that make the games easily worth the meager amount of money the game costs. While SINS wasn't great as lack of a campaign for me, the achievements and multiplayer were still good. Summed up, more developers effort into game = betterz.
Also I have a my own point that many will most likely disagree with, EndWar looks like your generic RTS fail.

So, if piracy is the reason for the delay of the PC Version, what's the reason for the delays of the VIP Demo?

It was supposed to start last week, then it was pushed to this week. It was supposed to be up on Tuesday, but they said it's going to take a few hours more. Never heard of them since than.

Just a small nitpick, but i'm still waiting here.
