I recently found out that engagement rings are being made for men, called mengagement rings:
http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/news/world/298095/would-you-buy-your-man-a-mengagement-ring.html

what do you all think about this? other than a wedding ring in wouldn't wear one, they just aren't my thing. to all the ladies here, would you want your fiancée to wear one, and to all the men, would you wear one?

I don't like wearing jewelry, it would look silly on me, however if my girlfriend bought me one and presented it to me in a proposal, I would totally keep it on the mantle or in my room or something so I could always look at it.

Also after they get married how many women REALLY wear their engagement rings?

Almost all of us, since engagement rings are sold as a set with the wedding ring. Even in cases where this is not so, it's traditional for the woman to put the engagement ring back on in front of the wedding ring. That's were the ROCK is silly! ^_^
As to men with engagement rings, why not? How else are the ladies supposed to know he's off the market?

I think it's brilliant. It just makes me want to put the word "men" in front of anything I can.

"Mengage the harpoons!"
"Menergizer Batteries"
"I menvy your boyfriend"

etc.

Women should not propose. If I was going out with a woman and she proposed I would be shocked and offended. So no way, no "engagement ring". That is bulls shit.

Well, isn't that a little misogynistic?

I would like my man to wear an engagement ring. I'd choose something tasteful, of course.

That sounds about as cool as a bromance.

I'm not a big jewelry guy, so I couldn't ever see myself wearing a mengagement ring, let alone a wedding ring.

Christ I hope the missus hasn't heard of these. She's constantly stopping and peering in when we walk past jewellers.

"Course set Captain"

"MENGAGE"

Sorry.

Well then in this case I am very misogynistic and old fashioned. I am not afraid to say so.

You know what me and my wife did? We only got the wedding bands themselves (No engagement ring). We both wore them on the ring finger, but wrong hand (Right hand). On the day of the wedding, we switched them from right to left.

I really liked it.

I'd wear it on a necklace, perhaps... Not my finger. I find I wind up looking feminine enough without a shiny diamond ring.

I would think it would have to be a sufficiently 'manly' ring for a 'manly' person such as myself. The I would wear it. In a 'manly' way.

Thanks! You know what's also kind of funny? My mom proposed to my dad because he was too nervous to say it. Ha!
Ahh, good times.

Sounds like an Irish tradition, actually... I'm too tired to verify that, though.

Edit: The ring thing

I was told it's done in Holland too (My heritage)!
Perhaps it's all over!
