"Witness the might of Daleks" isn't so hot a threat once they've been bitchslapped by the Doctor literally dozens of times.
I know right, as it was when they brought out the new daleks in this week's episode and they were all different colors I was like "Holy crap...the Daleks became Power Rangers! We're so fucked!"
They've been different colours before.......

Here's to hoping for a few laughs at least. I think I'll be downloading them... once I clear out the junk on this stupid machine.

You know those times when you're really really hopeful for something, and you just want it to turn out well, but you know that the people handling it are probably going to ruin it so hard you won't even recognize it as a part of your beloved franchise once it's released.

I'm having one of those days. Months, really.

EDIT: Oh dear god, they're not putting the interactive games as part of the continuity between episodes, are they? I don't want to have to play one of the games a week like its a chore or something just so I can know what's going on in the continuity....

I've seen red and that generic color scheme, this was the first time I've seen yellow and blue ones. No need to take that condescending tone with your dots, some of us couldn't follow the original series or just have bad memory retention when it comes to the new one.

BTW, it's easy to recreate the Dalek monotone. It's what a vocoder does to any voice when the carrier tone is the same as the original audio takes. You have the normal tone, and the agitated tone about a third interval up. In the classic "Destiny of the Daleks", about 3 different distinct Dalek voices are made with minor variations in the carrier tone. Davros' voice is yet another, made I think with a bit of ring mod on the original voice mixed in over the vocoder effect to "organify" it.

After that, the menace is all in the delivery and the writing. Try it at home, kids!

I am looking forward to this. BBC hasn't let me down yet with their online games (see the Last Dalek game, and the whoisdoctorwho? website stuff (the latter being very fun and very imersive)) and I'm banking on this being as good especially since this will be a game with a proper story and voice acting etc.
I hope that, not for my sake but for others, that they won't call upon plot points in the games as part of future TV stories simply because that would be a little unfair. Then again I'm sure they'll have factored that in as they know that not everyone who watches Doctor Who is a die hard fan.
Oh, and free games are always a good thing, I like to think of it as getting our TV licence worth!

Oh and P.S. do track down the whoisdoctorwho? 'defending the Earth' stuff as the webpages are still out there. Oh, and P.P.S. and if you can get the Last Dalek game working on the BBC website you're a better man than me!

Now, I'm not saying I'm not impressed.
Because if I don't I'm certain my girlfriend and her entire family will kill me...
Oh and my bestfriend...
They're all Doctor Who Fanatics.
And I too enjoy the Doctor who series.

Now...
I'm not sure I'm sold on what I saw, I mean I didn't see any of the 'grand adventure' that was mentioned in the article, that's for sure.

I'm just wondering how they could manage a game about being the smartest guy in the universe with a 'Do everything' device and time travelling box... AND still provide the limitation that all games are pretty much designed with.

It's hard to explain, but just like the first few episodes of this latest series, I'm not going to get excited just yet until things have proven to be worth getting excited over.

FREE!?
Oh god, May 6th can't get here soon enough!

I'm looking forward to this as much as anyone, but I've got some bad news.
We do the dates the other way around on this side of the Atlantic. So 5.6.10 as it says on the trailer means the release date is June the 5th. Please don't shoot the messenger......

I reckon this could be a fun little game!

Not a doctor who fan, but there possibilities of gameplay are pretty vast.

I saw the trailer after the last episode, and I have to say that it looks fairly good.
I like how it's free, so I'll definately have a look - that is if my computer will run it...

Yeah someone beat me to it, it's June that the first episode goes live. It says so right on the BBC website "The first episode of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games will be available to download for PC and Mac from this very website in June 2010. Its title will be revealed at a special press event on April 21st 2010."

If anything it just means they'll have more time to tweak it and make it good.

I was expecting it to be like Monkey Island Original budget but... Wow.
I was hoping it would be this way, so I'd be sure it'd run on my computer :-/ Curse those British and their high-end computation machines that actually have video cards!

Actually, I'm in Brazil, which is on the same side of the Atlantic as the US, and we do dates day/month/year as well. What I'm saying is, US, why do you do everything wrong? We just want to love you.

The Doctor and Amy are voiced by the actual series actors, and whoever does the voice acting for the Daleks recreates the creepy monotone perfectly.
I'd be floored if it wasn't Nick Briggs. Goodness, he's been voicing Daleks in fan productions since the original series ended, and in the new show since Eccleston. He even has a portable voice distortion unit so he can do the voice during the read-through (which gets really funny if he uses it for a distinctly un-Dalek like aside). He's been the Emperor Dalek, he's been a crazy Dalek, he's been a German Dalek.... You need a Dalek to talk, you get Nick Briggs.

And yes, I watch too much Doctor Who Confidential.
