Look, guys, I can understand if you prefer one console over other, but all these flamefests that happen all over the place are just stupid. This is what you console bashers sound like:

Wii Bashers: BUt I leik the hd consles better! The wee sucks because its doing bettr than the consols I hav even though the casul gamse suk!

PS3 Bashers: lol you and ur fony gaystatins are to expensiv and don have any good exclusves

Xbox 360 Bashers: ur just a bunch of noobs who only play for the haloez and geers of war. and yur consolez dont work.

Honestly, why? They're just games. You're entitled to your opinion, and discussion about the industry is encouraged just like any other industry, but you guys spend so much effort arguing about why your stuff is better that you think it would be about something serious like religion, philosophy, or politics! Games are just distractions to keep us entertained. To put this in perspective, there is war, disease, oppresion, strife, conflict, starvation, and even genocide going on in the world today and it always seems that the thing people argue most intensely about is games.

I don't mean to be condescending, but I think that we should know by now that it is entirely possible to discuss and enjoy our hobby without arguing about the details as though they're world-threatening crises. Many of us are adults now, so would you please try to act like it?

In all seriousness, I agree. there are points in favour of each console except the PS3 and points against each ,especially the PS3, it really depends on personal opinion.

I applaud your efforts but it's impossible as long as you have 12 year olds that know how to work the internet have just learned it's impossible for them to get into trouble this will never stop. I know it's not just children as well but i tend to notice the fanboys have minds like children so that's why i mention this.

They are annoying and largely unfounded, but remember that many (read:most) people on the internet are of a questionable intelligence. Sony as a company seems to be in a pretty good place. My biggest question is will Microsoft will fight a new format war or eventually embrace Blu-Ray capabilities.

Stupid because we elect others who say they speak on our behalf but really get into slap fights with other elected officials. And evil because the people who we elect ignore mostly what we say and pursue their own ambitions. I don't mean just America i mean every country in the world.

The only elitism and bashing I've seen prevalent on the Escapist is the PC lobbyists.

Really, if you've gone through research before choosing your preference, and you don't attempt to invalidate other peoples' opinions, then the annoying fanboy is in the absolute wrong.
In that case, you have every reason to ignore irrational comments, and feel smug about it. (as long as you keep your smugness to yourself, mind you.)

Don't sweat it, just ignore trolls and respect peoples' differences.

It's happening everywhere neighbour. Not only here. Some, even take it to extremes. It will not change so long as people know that they can hide behind the anonymity that the internet offers.

It would be nice though if people were civil everywhere.

I'm a PC gamer,and amidst all this console crossfire,i feel like UN. I'm sad because i can't join the fun (i.e. play Ratchet and Clank or Gears of War 2).

Flame wars and fanboys have existed since the Nintendo VS Sega days. They only time that they did not exist is when Atari was the only game in town. I remember the augments at elementary school over if the NES or the Master System was better. That was a long time ago. It is never going to end. Oh well. People are lame.

I have to say firstly that, yes, I am sick of console flaming.
I have my personal favorite console and dislike some for reasons of my own and will happily discus them.
You're right to say that discussing and even arguing about the industry should be encouraged. (Flaming and arguing being complete opposites.)

I also go to political forums expecting it. (about other things naturally)
In the end. As much as you may hate it, and I know that random flaming without any intelligent discussion annoys me to no end and serves no purpose.
Its sadly much less infuriating when its about consoles... :(

But for dealing the flamers, my advice, just ignore them, they have nothing real to say on the subjects their posting on.
The only real solution lies with the rest of us. If you enter their posts, leave without saying anything. If they post on your board do not respond to anything they say and just continue the discussion with the other members as though they never posted.
Its hard, but they are often just trying to get a rise out of people so they can laugh about it.
If we all managed to stick with that rule I think the flamers would be much less infuriating for everyone.
