What an odd, enjoyable experience ?Enough Said? is. It is said that TV is for females, movies for males. Once in a while, they?ll have a crossover film, like, ?It?s Complicated?. That movie was a super chick flick on steroids (or more aptly, soaked in estrogen), but had a few funny moments that even a guy could like. This was something different. It was very much like a chick flick, but seemed to be for men.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus? Eva meets James Gandolfini?s Albert at a party. They?re both in their early 50?s. They?ve been around the block.
They begin to date. It feels real and enjoyable. Two real people finding each other and engaging in a real relationship for real people in their early 50s.

Gandolfini is not Brad Pitt. He?s a normal looking guy with attractive attributes for a guy his age. He is large, imposing, and has an interesting voice. But he was married before. Another woman had him and let him go. Why?

And that gets to the heart of the matter. We have a film that feels like a chick flick. It deals with emotions, relationships, and lots and lots and lots of talking. But it seems male-centric.

All of the men in this movie are imperfect. But you can see so much of the problems in their relationships with women as being the fault of petty, selfish, small, hyper demanding women. I was worried the lack of balance would turn off my wife, who saw this with me. Happily, it did not.

There was a tip of the hat to the younger generation. We did get to see some younger people and their relationships to the 50 year olders out there. I have to admit, a lot of it hit very close to home for me and the missus.

There are no naked hotties, nor exploding cars, nor a single person hacked to pieces in the entire movie. Just people talking. But I can see how this would appeal to a guy. It did me. It understood what a guy goes through maintaining a relationship with a woman. It is sympathetic to the issues he?ll face. But it was sympathetic to the women too. They too are imperfect and have to deal with what that means, what it brings to an adult relationship. How their imperfections can harm their real aims and desires in a relationship.

Appears that, in that manner, it could appeal to my wife as well as me. It spoke to her. And, the guys really are imperfect. The movie made me laugh and think. It had an impact on me too. After the movie, I tucked in my shirt and tried to stand a little straighter as we walked out.

I could have gone to the Enough Said screening but I was really sick and didn't feel well enough to head out. Sounds like a missed out on a film I would have liked. That's unfortunate. :/

It should be on disc very soon. Sadly, it was hard to find playing anywhere near me. We did find a theater and there were about 3 other couples besides me, wife, daughter and her friend. (they even liked it more than I thought they would).

I hope you get to see it soon. It was worth it.
