Wrathgate Cutscene.

From WoW. A Cutscene from WoW.

The fact that you worked for a good deal of time to bring the event about, and it is part of a world you are immersed in by default, with characters you know and a storyline you have lived all combine with an utterly awesome battle to be my favorite cutscene ever. It's not just the awesome, it's the context it's used in. If you plan to bash Wow then please do so that I may laugh at you for years. I don't need a reason.

Also has, you guessed it: FOR THE HORDE

I second this. Sheer brilliance. Also the new Ulduar cutscene really sets up the new tensions between The Horde and the Alliance. Garrosh and Varian are twats for the record.

I love the L4D cutscene (the first one(in the main menu(it's amazing in HD!)))

I also love the little cutscene in CoD4 in "no fighting in the war room" when the door it slowly opening;

Gaz: That's it open
Price: Can't it go any faster?
Gaz: You can try pushing it, if you think it would help cpt.
Price: Cheeky Bastard

:p

Oh and;

"Surely you can't be serious..."

"I'm serious... and don't call me shirley!"

lol

Garrosh rules. He's just like every other WoW fan and is sick of Varian's whining and wants to teach the sod a lesson. Thrall is laughing his ass off on the inside. Sure, he might be a little bit of a tosser, but in this case his tosserishness is justified because it's aimed at the king of all tossers, the king.

Overlord Saurfang is the man, though. He needs more story-coverage. Even if it was just him cleaving kodo's in half to prove that he doesn't give a damn about the GCD.

Halo 3's ending I thought was well put together.

As was Bioshock's work.

And Mass Effect given that you the player get to interact.

The Thief: Dark Project scene with the Trickster wins. It blew my mind when I saw this for the first time. Couldn't believe games could cross the line to be epic. This scene features absolutely everything good I want to see in a game (i.e. art, cinematography, dialogue, and of course pain, suffering and a mad enemy)

Metal Gear Solid 3's ending was mindblowing as well (for the first time I had problems with pulling the trigger)

I also love the ending of Lost Odyssey. It's beautifully rendered and bittersweet.

A lot of the warriors (Dynasty / Samurai / Orochi) intros are awesome, like this one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUaemGnpjYI&feature=PlayList&p=BB3F932190AAB28F&index=5&playnext=4&playnext_from=PL

Although knowing the characters adds more to the feeling of the video than just watching and not knowing.

Well, even if it's justified in this instance, Garrosh is still a twat, he wants to kill Thrall and take his place after all. Though I got a feeling Saurfang would kill him before he got the chance.

The ending of Mass Effect. First time I stood up and clapped during a game.

Just about every cutscene in MGS4. especially the one where Liquid shoots down the choppers with a finger gun. And when you are crawling through the microwave corridor, although thats not really a 'cutscene' as such.

Just as long as they're from the player's point of view I really don't care. Although I class the entire "Take it Back" mission from Fallout 3 when Liberty Prime is smashing the crap out of the Enclave up until you enter the purifier building as a cutscene with the OPTION for you to shoot things. It was just that epic.

Trickster scene from Thief, as a few have stated above.

I hardly remember the cutscene from the OP, but it just made want to play through KotOR2 again... after my exams >.<

This is the most recent I've come across:

And to stay in the Final Fantasy universe: Zack Fair's death in Crisis Core. Especially the build-up to it (the Turks try to reach him before the Shinra do, thus betraying their own organisation, and the very final battle:
You just KNOW he'll die, but you get some fighting gameplay anyway. I spent 20 minutes keeping Zack alive, hoping there was some alternate ending to it all. There isn't. I had to let him die in the first ending battle on purpose. After which a last stand fight is brought, and you gradually weaken (memories fading. Literally), 'till the actual death cutscene starts. Bah.

Opening cinematic for Fable 2, the one which follows the bird road bowerstone. I thought the scene where Nero and Dante fight in DMC4 was pretty cool, the right mix of arrogance and awesomeness

I would have to say the space battle from mass effect. Its best if you chose to save the council though
