Ok for some reason I found myself thinking about that part in Kingdom Hearts II (a good game by any fair account even if it does (heavily) include Disney characters) where you are literally forced to fight off about a 1000 enemies pretty much single-handed in a barren valley. Even though I only had the opportunity to play through that sequence once I still recall just how epic the fight was (repetitive sure but you really dont have time to think about that as you chain another group of enemies into the air with more aerial combos). Im am by no means claiming that it is the most epic fight in gaming history but it is still epic and so that got me wondering, what other fight sequences in games would be described as epic?

I always remember the epic fight between Leon in Resident Evil 4 and the army guy.

I'd have to say the Cave of Ordeals in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. 50 caves, progressively harder enemies, last two caves have two and three Darknuts (hardest non-boss enemy in the game) at a time, respectively.

I'll go with,
Warning MGS4 spoiler.
The final battle in MGS4 when Snake and Liquid trade blows atop outer haven.
And, Warning Oblivion spoiler.
Mehrunes Dagon fighting the avatar of Akatosh in the temple of the one.

Honestly, the most epic scene I have experienced was a multiplayer game of Age of Empires 3 with large teams. Ship combat had dominated most of the match, but our team had amassed on the other side of the map an armada of transports filled with horsemen and musketeers and cannon. All at once we crowded the other shore, cannon fire raining down destroying a few of the front ships. A tense swarm fight on the beach, and then slowly pushing to the enemy town centers.

Damn, I want to play that game again.

i was totally going to say that!
(BTW his name is Krauser)

well other than that fight i'll have to say the third time you fight virgil on DMC3, ESPECIALLY on very hard or dante must die mode; that fight was pretty fun if it is on harder difficulties.

Ah, thank you! I was really wanting to say Wesker, but I knew that wasn't right, ha.

hm... well i had a fairly epic charge, instigated by me on supreme commander the other day, I had over 500 units of various types, and i gave every single one of them an attack move order on the enemy base at the same time, all the while crying on chat "LEEERRROOOYYYYY (massive pause as he waits for them to get across the map) JENKINNNNNNNSSSSSSS"

Well, epic fights can be sorted into one of three catagories.

1. Two massive armies colliding. Eg. Age of Empires.

2. A small team taking on vastly superior numbers. Eg. Mass Effect assault on the citadel.

3. Two monlithic beings duking it out. Eg. Dante vs Virgil.

The problem with RPGs is that they usually have very unsatifactory end bosses. Sure the story is kick ass, but the final boss is usually an enemy with powerful attacks and alot of HP and that's about it.

Or a boss you dont even have to do anything for him to die =[ (Fable 2. Biggest let down. Ever)

Fighting the vezir, or whoever that guy was in the original Prince of Persia (no, not Sands of Time, kiddo) :D

I have to say boss fights in WoW's raids are probably the most spectacular if you don't mind tons of letters floating around.

Honorable mention: the pyramid in Zul Farrak :)
With WoW in mind, Id have to say the battle outside of Light's Hope Chapel in the Death Knight starter quests.

I'd have to say one of the levels in Lair, (I'm not sure which, i only rented it a long time ago and can't remember) where hundreds of your soldiers are fighting hundreds of enemies in front of a huge castle loaded with siege weaponry, dozens of dragons in the sky, and dozens more warships in the harbour behind the castle lobbing flaming projectiles at the castle. So cool, and it felt like i was watching a new Lord of the Rings.

As soon as I saw the name of this article, I instantly thought of the 1000-baddy fight in Kingdom Hearts 2. Since that's taken, I'm going to go with fighting Sepiroth in both Kingdom Hearts games. I never was able to beat him, but I most definitely tried.

Earthbound, you may say fighting Sephiroth was hard in Kingdom Hearts, Which i have to admit it was, The most EPIC fight with sepiroth was when to kill him in FF VII, his attacks have like 5 minute videos!!! but it is an AWSOME fight!!

Honestly, Fighting Ganondorf and Ganon respectively in OOT (excluding the annoying escape part, that sucked).

The Battle of 1000 Heartless in KH2 was so much fun.

OOH! Meta-Ridley in Metroid Prime, that battle was a pain but if you think about it, it was definitely epic.

Cutting down like 500 guys on your way to the second-last battle of Assassin's Creed (sort of epic but also painful)...And for non-epic, (because I have to ***** about it), the last battle in AC.
