Can someone explain something that just happened. As I was playing mass effect 2 I'm on the final mission. All characters loyal and all where they should be. So imagine my surprise when just after killing the human reaper mordin dies as part of the ground team. Seriously pissed off will need to re load but wtf?

Sorry for the rant erm...for discussion value...how do you think the deaths of the characters in mass effect 1 and 2 will effect 3?

Yeah, that happened to me. I didn't care, though. Grunt and Legion were alive and that's all I need.

It will massively effect 3. :p

All puns aside, Mordin probably died because you sent him to do a role where he wasn't good at.

As long as I get Garrus. That happens, I don't care about anything else. And yes, Mordin has the possibility of dieing no matter what he does. Try sending him to escort the crew back to the Normandy.

[small]Spoilers, friend. Remember, not everybody has completed the game, astonishingly[/small]

I feel your pain. Mordin is a great character, and a doctor at that. I mean, who is left to turn to when a doctor can take you out without even trying. Being that my favorite character, Legion, was the only member of my team to "die" in the ending, I know what it means to lose somebody whom you had worked the whole game to like.

I mean, come on, Legion's loyalty mission oozed TRON.

As for your discussion topic, I am still hoping the choice of saving or killing the Rachni Queen comes to fruition in Mass Effect 3. Receiving a message from a purple asari telling me that they are "preparing accordingly" only heightens my interest in the choice overall. I do hope there is a lot of different variations in the choices come Mass Effect 3, as I have heard it will add up to over 1000 variables come the ending to the trilogy.

[small]Seriously. I saved the Rachni Queen. I want to see a rachni army at my command.[/small]

If you stick Mordin on the ground team, it basically means that he's screwed :p

The two ways to make sure he survives are to send him back with the crew, or to bring him with you.

It probably won't matter much though; it's likely we'll to get new companions in ME3 anyway.

According to the FAQ I use, that is likely to happen. It suggests sending Mordin back into to the Normandy.

That's the one I used.

No worries. I've completed the game. I was merely speaking for others.

Having at least a rachni squadmate would sate my interest in the bug-people come Mass Effect 3, I'll tell you that. Think about it. It doesn't sound that far-fetched when one thinks about everything that can happen in the Mass Effect universe.

Thank you for the compliment. I enjoy your avatar as well. Batman Beyond was an incredibly underrated show.

Hooray for nostalgia:

Every detail you could possibly need and more.

I'd like quite a few characters to return in ME3, but some of them are supposed to be close to death (Thane's ill, Mordin's old) so for some of them it might depend on the time between 2 and 3. I don't think 3 needs as many new squadmates as 2 - Ashley/Kaiden will be back, and hopefully Liara. Maybe Wrex, but I doubt it.

Same, I saved her (the Queen), and got that message from the Asari. I'd love to see a billion Rachni come down from the sky and tilt the tables of the final battle (or any battle, for that matter).

Well do you mind giving us a bit more info as to where and how he died? While loyalty is very important, it only works for certain parts if you pick the right character. Mordin is the most likely to die regardless of what you do, that is why it is usually best to have him escort the crew back to the ship.

Yea, he has a nasty habit of dying, thats why you always send him back to protect the crew. that way he can't get killed in the end

Mordin dies if you take too long or put him in charge of anything.

This is actually one of my main concerns for the third game is that they will have to do the same thing they did in 2 and just put everyone on a bus and introduce a whole new squad. Because some people will have got everyone through, some will have got no one excpet Shepard and one other through, and everyone conceivable number and combination of characters in between, which means that in order to balance it BioWare would have to somehow have a plot that takes into account what I am sure is over a hundred potential starting positions.

And I don't think they can do it, which means that I think the final game will be a disappointment, and not even close to the expectations for it. I don't think the deaths will really have any effect at all on the third game besides some offhand comments to your new team of wacky misfits about how your sorry you lost 'X' in the final battle. And maybe if you lost everyone Shepard will be really angsty or something.

Captcha expects me to put an accent on an m. This not possible. Thus Captcha is incredibly stupid.

I'm assuming you need Legion and Tali alive in order to stop the Geth/Quarian war from happening (or at least it'll make things easier) it took me 3 playthoughs to stop Legion from dying so i'm expecting him to matter goddammit!

I just hope there's another opportunity to talk a boss into suicide a la Saren. I love pouring points into speach in every RPG after all.

Shep: "Harbinger! You Suck!"
Harbinger: :( *dies*

Also if Tali isn't a party member in ME3 i will... Do something... And cry some Manly Tears...
