SOPA seems to be getting the middle finger from everybody now, unlike a week ago when it seemed like the end was nigh.

Now one of its biggest supporters (and most relative to this site) has dropped it too.

Looks like SOPA (and PIPA) is going nowhere, but with the recent closure of Megavideo, maybe it didn't even need to pass, maybe proposing it was enough to get the ball rolling...

For more discussion value, what do you think about SOPA now that its lost its momentum?
(I know there is too many SOPA related threads about but none seemed to show this bit of info and I needed to add something for discussion value)

EDIT: Just noticed there was a thread about this in the Gaming Discussion section. I forgot to check that section of the forums.

Well then that's good! They must've realized that SOPA was unpopular with the Game Community, and they must've really realized that when people were calling for bailing on E3. I'm glad that ESA caught itself before it caused itself serious damage.

The ESA hasn't ditched SOPA, SOPA ditched the ESA by getting stalled.

I'm tending to think they left it too late to jump off the train. It looks to my admittedly cynical mind that they waited until there was absolutely no chance of success for the bill. Only then did they abandon ship to save face, once they were 99% sure they'd see no benefit from the now-doomed legislation. Is it too late for their reputation, and is that deservedly so?

That said, I suppose you could say the same about all the supporters who dropped out once people got angry...
