From the GameInformer website:

"The Entertainment Software Association, a trade group that represents U.S video game publishers, has dropped its support for the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA)."

More reassuringly, the ESA makes a statement about how they want a different, more balanced, kind of legislation, which says, "Yes, we want to combat piracy, but this isn't the way to do it."

"Hey guys, we don't support this now dead-in-the-water legislation."

That's not doing what's right, that's not opposing it, all they're doing is damage control. They supported this bill the whole time it was being pushed through, and even put thousands of dollars into supporting it.

Yeah, fuck these guys. I'm not falling for their shit. They supported it despite everyone's concerns, they put money behind it... yeah, no. Fuck them. They abandoned/ignored us when we needed them most. Fuck. Them.

So what about PIPA?
It was shelved before SOPA was put on "indefinite hold" actually.

It looks like the internet won this round, most congressmen and senators are against it now, and its shelved. This is just their damage control.

ESA only pulled support because the bill was shelved. If not for that, they would have continued to pump money into getting it pushed forward.

If the ESA want something from us next time, they can pound sand.

In my eyes, they never withdrew support. They only withdrew support only to save face since its practically dead. No face was saved anyways.

It is a bit late to be withdrawing support from it now... but maybe they are sincere about it.

Just stumbled on an interesting relative image

Its too small to really see who's who, although I wouldn't know even if it were big enough.

Amen to that. The ESA has proven that they're perfectly okay with stabbing us in the back when it suits them.

Lol, I think the boycott thread got the ESA scared. I think before this they would've gone "Yeah, right, like that many people are gonna do it, no chance". Then this happened, millions upon millions rose up and gave a collective 'FUCK YOU' to the industry and shocked them out of their stupor and they suddenly realized, "Oh shit, what if they ACTUALLY DO IT?" It would be the most miserable financial quarter in their history and it's something they flat out can't afford. So now they're trying to placate us by saying "yeah, no, guys, we didn't mean it. We're totally with you, 100% of the way, please don't hurt us."

Oh so now they stop supporting it?
Yeah thanks ESA. We are all really happy about you withdrawing your support now that it's over.
