The point is that if it had gone through, their sales would have hurt a lot. And now that they aren't supporting it (regardless of whether it failed or not), their sales shouldn't be hurt. Grudges aren't as effective as carrots.
SOPA falling through isn't relevant anymore to Nvidia's sales, all that matters is what's happening right now.
A grudge has it's purpose, to ensure they think very very hard before supporting the next SOPA type bill.lacktheknack said:

We won what? ESA bailed after SOPA was shelved. Also, SOPA isn't done. Last I heard the people behind it are now working to get it into other bills, since that's how it works in the USA. You can pass almost anything if you make it a part of something else. I remember reading that they're trying to include SOPA (or a SOPA equivalent) into some new child pornography law. Yeah, I can see people lining up to vote against child porn laws...

Unfortunately, I do think this is going to be enough to avert an E3 boycott by the press and devs.
I plan on sticking to mine, though. Coming up when the big bad's been killed and saying "hey, I've been on your side the whole time!" isn't particularly convincing. So I won't be buying anything that's showcased at E3, even if that includes GW2 or Borderlands (though that would REALLY piss me off).

They pulled the support when SOPA was already done. If SOPA emerges again, guess who's gonna support them...again.
Call me sceptical but pulling support after the bill is defeated isn't really admirable.
