I like the fact that under SOPA, you had a harder penalty for sharing a Michael Jackson song than the guy who killed him got.
So no long term consequences for supporting SOPA? I guess the next time a SOPA type bill comes along, NVidia can support it without feeling bad since forgiveness is assured if the bill fails and they drop their support.ResonanceSD said:I'll post it when i have one.
But now I can go back to supporting nvidia without feeling bad![]()
It's called using a stick AND a carrot. Because if they supported it and it went through, you can bet that their sales would be badly injured.Crono1973 said:So no long term consequences for supporting SOPA? They supported it and would still be supporting it if it had not failed. It's like people are glad that SOPA failed so they can go back to giving money to companies that supported it.lacktheknack said:Here, have a second source.

Is that a problem? Not everything has to be a blood feud.Crono1973 said:They supported it and would still be supporting it if it had not failed. A grudge has it's purpose, to ensure they think very very hard before supporting the next SOPA type bill.lacktheknack said:Is that a problem? The point is that if it had gone through, their sales would have hurt a lot. And now that they aren't supporting it (regardless of whether it failed or not), their sales shouldn't be hurt. Grudges aren't as effective as carrots.
SOPA falling through isn't relevant anymore to Nvidia's sales, all that matters is what's happening right now.
Correct! Have an internet. As I said many times, no one is going to trust the esa after this.DVS BSTrD said:Guess they just really liked dressing as ghosts themselves.
Glad the guys can get back to covering E3, But It ain't over till the bill gets voted down. It's not the ESA he wants us to praise, it's ourselves.Matthew94 said:Meh, they know SOPA is done in it's current form and are trying to save face.
Let's see what they do when SOPA/PIPA's successor comes along before we start praising them.
yeah, I don't think the ESA can come back from this one with any credibility left.Clive Howlitzer said:Too little too late. The ESA are tools. It would have been nice to see that change of face when it actually meant something.
Jandau said:We won what? ESA bailed after SOPA was shelved. Also, SOPA isn't done. Last I heard the people behind it are now working to get it into other bills, since that's how it works in the USA. You can pass almost anything if you make it a part of something else. I remember reading that they're trying to include SOPA (or a SOPA equivalent) into some new child pornography law. Yeah, I can see people lining up to vote against child porn laws...
