Absolutely awesome film! The Avengers certainly leaves you wanting for more and also makes the previous solo films even better in my opinion. Everything was close to perfect, sure there are some things to nitpick about but the positives greatly outweigh the negatives. I hope to do a second and perhaps a third viewing when I have the time.

I anxiously wait for Ms. Marvel, Black Panther, Ant-Man (and Wasp) and Dr. Strange to appear on the silver screen!

Congratulations Marvel Studios, you definitely deserve all the money you're currently getting.

I think it was more him acknowledging what the most popular picks for favorite superhero films are, then actually pointing out his favorites. Or I guess he could've re-watched "The Dark Knight" recently and realized that it actually is better than "Watchmen."

Given how so many people are coming out of the closet and saying how much they hated the original trilogy and are actually EXCITED for the new movie, I'm guessing that that and Superman are still his top favorite superhero movies and NOT just popular picks, though it that WERE the case, including The Dark Knight as opposed to Watchmen WOULD make sense, seeing as not everyone was on-board saying that movie was awesome.

You know, they probably could've saved themselves a whole lot of trouble with that whole "can't get through the pure-energy force field surrounding the device" problem and prevented the portal from opening in the first place if one of them had just brought along a package of Twinkies. Thanos is cool and all, but like... Hello? Kang the Conqueror? Ultron? Red Skull? Dr. Doom? The Leader? Mandarin? M.O.D.O.K? COME ON GUYS

But to be fair, Thanos is the definitive Marvel Crossover villain.

Did they? I guess I was too young to appreciate that, but as a kid I always found the movies mediocre and they only got worse as I grew up.
Those movies had none of the character-driven drama tied into the action that is so compelling about Spider-man.
Plus, they were ridiculously campy. Re-watching them makes that clear. They just didn't take the source material seriously enough. And I always hated Toby McGuire (McGuire? MacGuire? Eh) as Peter Parker.
Oh, and Spiderman had all the wit and charisma of the annoying twelve year old in the cinema who had too much sprite and keeps making comments to impress his friends.
Spiderman is supposed to be funny in an insolent sort of way, while masking his genuine fear with humour, not... a douche.

And I have really high hopes for Amazing Spider-man. But that's me.

Go to any trailer posted on youtube and you'll see comments about how this one will be better because it's truer to the comics, because apparently the FOUNDATION of Spider-man as a character was always mechanical webshooters and making wisecracks, and not the whole balancing superheroing with normal teenager stuff, and that great power, great responsibility stuff that the Raimi movies focused on (first two anyway), that stuff isn't important at all.

Anyway, can only wonder where the Marvel movies will go from here. To early to jump into the Civil War, though that's the one of the biggest profile crossover events. Secret Wars maybe (first one)?

Well, that's the way it seems. Whenever I bring up those movies, they all talk about everything that was wrong with them and how they look forward to the remake, like Sony is actually making that movie because they fully intend to meet the demands of the fans and not their own agendas.

And yeah, I don't like the way the new movie looks, the focus on Peter Parker's parents, Spider-Man's costume doesn't look NEARLY as awesome as the original trilogy's, the Lizard also looks dumb, and... well, I just didn't really see the point. The third movie, IMO, wasn't THAT bad, and it CERTAINLY didn't warrant rebooting the entire series.

Can't have Ultron without the Pyms. Red skull died in Cpt. America. Dr. Doom is owned by fox via Fantastic 4 (which, incidently, is why they weren't facing the Skrulls), Kang is a little to tied in with the FF as well. Mandarin and M.O.D.O.K. are probably a little too obscure. Marvel tied down the Leader with some comic tie-ins, He is in S.H.E.I.L.D. custody, he was in The HULK though.

And they teased everyone with the bloody glove at Comic Con so yeah let's go all the way. HOWEVER, if fox will ever be good people and realize they can't make good superhero movies (most of the time anyways...)and let marvel get back FF and all that stuff i'd like to see any and all. Also X-men cross-over. Want avengers v magneto/botherhood movie...

Although, i find all of the nits hard to pick when i realize, "wait there's a helicarrier on the screen." Also, HULK is funniest part of this movie.

where they're all fighting and all of SHIELD's dirty laudry comes out. and it's just getting worse and worse. and then boom they all have to put it aside to survive.

Not a bad movie. I was wondering how they would fit Hawkeye in as a "major" character without his role feeling forced, and they did a decent job of it. I did think they underplayed Cap in this movie a bit too much. He didn't seem to be as much of the "leader" of the Avengers as he should have been. His on screen presence just wasn't there as much as in his own movie, and on the flip side, Stark was a little bit too much center stage, over-powering some of the other characters.

I was only really disappointed in the "generic" alien bad guys. I would have liked a little more screen-time given to them to make the audience "care" why they are involved. Maybe a bit more with them and Loki...

Other than that, decent. I'll be glad to see a second one.

I'm inclined to agree with omegawyrm. Actually hoping for some schadenfreude does make you kind of a dick (in my books at least). I'll admit it's a guilty pleasure I've indulged in before, but I at least feel bad about it afterwards.

I'm drawing a blank on what the new dimension of Agent Coulson was that redeems the second act of Iron Man 2. Didn't he only show up for a few seconds to give Tony some of his fathers stuff before going to find Thor's hammer? And what was specifically wrong with the second act?

I didn't get what Bob meant by that either. Can anyone shed some light on this?

saw it last night, still laughing. The Hulk/Ruffalo steals every scene hes in. the last time a monologue was interrupted this well was Samuel L. Jacksons performance as chum in deep blue sea.

I'm the only one in my classroom who got to see the "second bonus" scene (only 12 of us, with 3 who have seen it, but still)
That bit was just a whole lot of fun
Also, the whole movie (and singlehandedly being the best appearance of the Live Action Hulk/Banner on-screen for the last 10 years)

I have to admit that I'm kind of disappointed that this film is turning out to be good, at least according to the concensus. I was hoping for a mediocre, anti-climactic movie, just to see how furious Bob would have gotten. Guess I'll just have to watch a good super hero movie instead. Win win.
