If that's actually the case, then technically you can't stand Whedon as a person, not as a writer.
No, that's completely valid criticism against a writer. If he can't take criticism and feels no need to improve it reflects badly on him and he'll never admit that. Plus his dialogue hasn't really aged well. He's been writing the same. freaking. stuff since Buffy and he needs to adjust. It's gotten old

People need to calm down about spoilers. If surprise is the only reason a movie is good, then the movie doesn't have much going for it anyway.

This is the first review I'm not watching all the way through. I'll check this one out in 2 weeks when I get paid again (I just spent my entertainment budget...I have control issues) but the spoiler-free portion of the video convinced me. I can always come back to watch the rest of the review.

Who else is disappointed we didn't get to hear Bob's views on Lockout? That one seems like a goldmine of opportunities for complaint. Unless it's one of those so bad that the studios refuse to let the reviewers see it in advance.

Honestly, as great as this is going to be, I can't get the opening number from "Evil Dead The Musical" out of my head everytime I see/hear the name of this movie. Not complaining, just saying.

Also, doesn't the cabin look like a nail for nail recreation of the Evil Dead one?

Cabin In the Woods: You won't beleaf what happens next!
Oh no that pun makes me think the Cabin is haunted by treemonsters or something.. Like the one in Evil Dead.. You've ruined the movie for me! I shall go hide under a rock until this movie comes to my preferred distributor of digital video!
Also: You are very gifted with puns :p

Just checked the Australian release date: 12 July. Three months from now. Ugh, I just know I'm accidentally going to stumble across something ruining whatever this big twist is. Ridiculous.

I guess the only question I would have is "What if I hate horror movies?"
I'd like to know this too, since while I don't necessarily hate horror movies. I hate "shock horror" and "torture porn". For example, I like the premise of Final Destination (Which honestly was pretty creative at the time, I thought.) but I can't watch any of the gruesome deaths because I'm extremely squeamish unless there's a thick layer of "uncanny valley" between me and the blood and gore (see: video games).

So my question is more: "What kind of horror movie is this? Is it the kind that messes with your mind, or is it the "look at this death, see how disturbing it is?" kind of movie.

Of course, I wouldn't want you to spoil anything about the movie, because it looks like an interesting movie. But like most horror movies I don't want to spend half of it looking at the floor trying not to puke.

I may just see it now, but on an off topic... Bob talked about the Matrix Reloaded and the Rouge AI programs. I thought about it and I have no I idea what he was talking about. The several times I have watched that movie I never got much hint to Vampires and werewolves at all, I got a horror movie/ Dracula theme going down, but I did not expect vampires or anything to pop in later into the movie. Am I the only one who missed this or is Bob just reading into movies too deeply?

I think it's already up on Bit-torrent =D
I unfortunately refuse to download movies without giving a dime to the creators. Not cause of the whole Piracy=stealing debate, but more because it's my dream to work in the film industry, and then I find it a bit hypocritical of me to DL movies..
That and I never could be bothered with torrents, never got em figured, tbh :/

You're lucky, we don't even have a release day yet. (Czech Republic here)

There`s still a few movies other than this I`d like to see, and I have a hankering to see Hunger Games again, but the trailers for Cabin had me intrigued from the get go. While I don`t often trust Bob when he says something is bad, he`s usually pretty accurate when he says something is good. Hmm.. maybe this will have to be a movie heavy weekend.

I was totally going to post that video. Watching the review, 90% of my thoughts were "I'm SO going to link to that song in the discussion thread!

So yeah, ninja'd, much anguish. Cabin in the woods ooh, cabin in the woods yeah.

On topic, I really don't like horror films, and most of my thought process while watching them is trying to justify to myself why I wouldn't be in the same situation, because I wouldn't do stupid thing XYZ. I don't gain any pleasure from watching horror films. So now I'm uncertain as to whether this apparently very good film is something I should watch.

First of all, the opening shot with nothing but M Night Shamalayan movies was funny.

Second: I think I know what the twist you're talking about is... I saw a glimpse of it in the trailer, but nonetheless, I stopped watching the review at the 1:46 mark.

Third: Gotta go see this.

This isn't a horror movie. This is more than that.

It's not shock horror or torture porn. It's not just blood and guts and shit like that.

Go see it, seriously, I don't think you'll regret it.
