I've discovered this movie has a lot of haters, and I don't get it. Anyone else seen complaints about how it doesn't stick to true vampire lore, and isn't for "the real thinkers"?
This was awesome. I've trusted Bob ever since I signed on to Drag Me to Hell, and disagree with him only in that I think his criticism of Terminator 4 was far too mild (yes, it's a problem that they cut it to a PG-13, but I could rail on about the plot holes for hours).
Anyhow, I liked the atmosphere of intense desperation the movie created. Starving bat mutants being hunted like rats, vampire society on the brink of collapse, and human beings nearly extinct- there's not one character in the movie whose life isn't on the line, and the result (with an added ocean-load of blood) is just sweet. The subplot about the Big Bads daughter was somewhat lacking, but the movie did a scarily good job of guessing how people might act when suddenly everyone, everywhere is at risk of suffering a balls-out HORRIFIC death at any moment.
Left the theater laughing like crazy. No other way to respond to the sheer number of people who literally explode...
