I found the review entertaining... and my honest expectation when I eventually see it is only for some mindless fun.

That said, how could you say Torque was better than, well anything?

I saw it just recently, basically it was a knockoff of Fast & Furious, except with bikes.

Edit: not knocking people who did enjoy Torque, I just found it to be cliched (which seems to be an arguement against F&F)

Eh I didnt think it was bad. Was funner than the Expendables, best to just sit back and try to have some fun instead mr snobby. Just kidding to an extent, the Scream review kinda phased my opinion of Bob after he seemed seriously upset that people were now more knowledgeable and his "talent" of being a horror nerd was taken away. Getting closer to being a high brow snobbish critic Bob, like the good stuff, dislike the bad, but dont dislike whats popular to dislike. Those movies you listed were great, very argueably better than this, but its sort of the equivalent of hating a remake, for being a remake. I think we all know your mind was made up on this film walking in.

Going a little off-topic here, why the hell does everyone seem to think Cars was the worst Pixar movie? I thought it was better than A Bug's Life, and at least as good as Ratatoullie, Up, and Wall-E. Granted it could just be because I'm a sucker for the whole Route 66 atmosphere, but I still put it right about in the middle of what Pixar's done. What specifically put it below all other ten movies for you?

As for the Cars sequel, I would be seriously concerned it was going to suck if it didn't have a Pixar logo on it - Pixar of course having the incredibly rare distinction of having never made a bad (or really even an average) film, I've got fairly high expectations.

You know what, Bob? Couldn't you try to review movies without ridiculing the film's target audience. Heck, not only ridiculing, but also insulting anyone who watches it. It's getting tiring. I might watch Fast Five. Does that make me a terrible douchebag?

Bob hates a movie made for "cool" males. Wow. I'm shocked. It's almost as if his adipose tissue has taken over his brain in making opinions.

BUT WAIT!!?!?! He, an east coast American, just used the phrase "bloody" unironically?! Bob. You become the monster you hate, just in a different way.

(Keep him on the site though. If he's secretly trolling us all I'd be mightily amused (like +12 might, no bs.))

I also agree. I liked the Transformers movies. But not because "aww awesome cars, man" or "military kicks ass!" or "look at that chicks ass!" I like them because they're funny, and they're the only Blockbuster movies around from the last few years that have giant robots in them. Sure, it'd be WAY better if they dropped all this gritty shit, and didn't have that boring, 1-dimensional woman in it (which I believe they're doing for the third installment, right?)

So Moviebob pretty effectively pissed me off by saying they were made by a douchebag, for douchebags (exclusively).

Oh, but then he apologizes. Like, a year-and-a-half later. (He never did mention why it took him so long?) But he only apologizes for calling Michael Bay a douchebag. Because "it's not cool". And then absolutely says, "But I still think the people who watch them are douchebags".

You know I've spent a lot of thought into figuring out which side of political and social ideals Bob is more on. And now I have a point suggesting he's closer to the left:
"Embarrassing misunderstanding of what 'tolerance' is. 10 points."

edit, i'll play nice.

I think Bob gets upset that these type of movies, with little to no redeeming qualities, continue to get made. They don't even get car lingo or mechanics correct. I worked in the auto industry for over a decade, and I have even watched these shows. Mainly because they are so bad and get so many things wrong they are actually really, really funny.

Well after just seeing it, I thought it was fun, nothing special, seeing the Rock in an action movie again was nice, even though his best was Faster. And I'm kinda wondering why "Its A Mad Mad Mad Mad World" didn't get mentioned in the car movie list, and for another WHAT ABOUT "DUEL"?

also near the end did I see two girls make out?
Sorta. People who were expecting Speed Racer to be a serious movie hated Speed Racer. It was a fun movie to sit through, and it really wasn't aiming any higher than that. It isn't worth taking the time to actually hate the movie, because whatever you might bash to justify your hatred, you're taking it more seriously than the movie was.

And if you're referring to the scene I think you are (where they're sitting in the driver seat of a car), I think it's the Asian guy and a girl, not two girls.

yeah, Vin Diesel was pretty awesome in Pitch Black.

as for this film?

its better than the second one...

all in all, I think it was pretty good put up against the others. which, surely, is the only practical thing to say at this point...

It's a real pity Vin Diesel's career didn't take of like it should have; you know, after Saving Private Ryan, The Iron Giant and Pitch Black...

I would love to see him in a Zack Snyder flick or something along those lines.
unfortunatly this is his ownly way to get on the big screen as of lately and guess what? i herd theres another fast and the furious apparentally, the last though but still wow another one?(6th film).

I think you're being an elitist nerd for getting this worked up about a movie. It's just a dumb fun action movie and yes its a cacophony of untold douchebaggery but can't you just rise above it and take it at face value? Or better yet LAUGH about it. I don't think movies like Fast and the Furious are the reason for many people acting the way they do and looking down on you. It's obvious you have different tastes since you thought Sucker Punch was good because it was on one end of the spectrum of over the top visuals and dumb fun, and that movie took itself way more seriously than this one, but do you have to insult the viewers themselves for enjoying a movie?

Just got back from this one after being dragged by friends.

I must say I am seriously glad I didn't listen to your review prior on this one Bob. You severely let me down.

If you're looking for a good action/car flick this is it.

Obviously people aren't going into this one for the drama and acting,

but to criticize it so heavily because you aren't the group they're targeting? And to go so far as to say that the crowd of people who enjoy this sort of thing are all douche bags?

Well that's pretty snobby and elitist to me... I'm really saddened you went there =(
