Shane Black man... Respect. When the film started with the narration, I couldn't help but smile like an idiot. :D The humour was just so good, along with almost everything else. Only thing I didn't like:

Wasn't it established what he CAN'T remove the shrapnel? I'm a bit confused.

Otherwise it's just very very good. Not Avengers good. But still very good.

And for the record: I loved the Avengers, think Captain America was the worst Marvel film (and I think that Bob has a HUGE bias whenever it comes to characters he loves and the US, and it just explodes for this film), find TDKR to be pretty darn good though not TDK good, and think Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a MASTERPIECE.

HA AMERICA NOW YOU KNOW WHAT WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH! (4 months for Wreck=it Ralph being a biggy) But having watched it yesterday.. hmmm

Its, like Dark night rises, good/ok, a solid 7/10. Some of the stuff really bugged me and it did suffer from too much of the guy without the suit syndrome. Some of the characters and themes like Tony's PTSD get kinda quickly summed up and abandoned and some characters which could be really strong including he main bad guy don't really tread any new ground and the ground they do tread they don't do massively well (Won't say who/what due to spoils). Still Downey jr is on form and really manages to make you care about the Stark character who is at his very heart massively unlikable (which has always been the hook for Ironman I know but he pulls it off well) I'll agree with Bob on Paltrow/Pepper, she is very much the anti nagging damsel and plays off as someone who really cares for Tony rather than someone out just to ruin fun. Oh and a Semi fan of Ironman(Think im one of the few people who REALLY liked Civil war) the big shocking Twist was actually very fun, can understand the anger mind.

It has its up's and down's Ill admit, but its still a good film worth the watch. Also making me really looking forward to the Thor/Cap 2. And for the love of God remake Fantastic 4, a team that understands what the word 'subtle' means would kill at this, not "I AM IMMATURE LOL OMG LIFE LESSON!" "I AM SAD AND A ROCK GUY NOONE LOVES ME OH NOW SOMEONE DOES :DDD" which is pretty much all the character development of the other 2.

Surprised Bob like this. Oh well, opinions are opinions :D
For me the movie was an incoherent mess, plotholes aside, the tone was all over the place and the "oh, stark has to be funny" moments stopped the flow of the movie, unlike the avengers where action and humour and drama went hand in hand. Even the twist felt kinda... pointless. I mean, what was the point? How did it make the movie deeper or more interesting? The only thing it did was give 20 seconds of awkward laughter.
Anyway... I was really disappointed with Iron Man 3 but most people seem to love it so...

Do you need to see Iron Man 2 before hand to see this? I've seen Iron man 1 and the avengers so should I watch the second film before seeing this or can I watch it without seeing iron man 2 like the avengers?

"calls the Mandarin out and that leaves Stark without his tech and weapons"
Hmm... yea... only so that Stark can call the House Party thing in the final 10 minutes of the movie. Why doesn't he call them before? Why doesn't he retreat to the Stark Tower in New York? Why isn't Cpt. America or S.H.I.E.L.D even MENTIONED when the friggin' president of the USA is kidnapped? How did the extremis soldiers not melt their clothes? Why did Aldrich get so mad, he only missed the Millenium Eve... so much for demons

Had to see an advanced screening last night and I was worth the $8.50 price tag. Glad to see Marvel Studios still offering quality over quantity with their movies post-Avengers. As for the surprise, I was highly surprised rather than pissed about it. It's great to see they're taking such risks. And, yes, stay through the credits for a surprise.

I hope Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel make a deal for him to return. I cannot for the life of me think of anyone taking over this role and any actor who does will have some serious boots to fill. Plus they need to bring in War Machine for Avengers 2 and possibly have Pepper become Rescue. With the biggest of big bads coming up, the Avengers will need a lot more than 6 members to handle this threat.

I enjoyed this movie sooo much, but after watching it I felt like watching Kiss Kiss Bang Bang again than any other Iron Man movie.

And I liked this twist: spoiler of that below
I didn't know much about Mandarin before this movie, but right after the scene where he threatens the president into calling him. I immediately figured out that this is guy is a coward. And then not only that but after the twist you realize it's because they probably didn't even plan for the president to call, so they had no prepared script for the senario. That little development was cool to me. The fact I didn't know much about his comic counterpart and I also loved the hell out of Ben Kingsley performance so that might have me swayed on liking it more.

And in other not as spoiler-y news: Pepper is a BAMF.

Meh, I actually didn't like it. Mostly because of the motivations of the villian, they were so flimsy and "yeah, because I wan't to fuck things up" compared to the other two movies, especially the second one.
I really felt like it was so damn inconsistent. He (the villain) goes from taking several minutes to overheat Iron Patriot's suit into judo-chopping suits in half towards the ending. That reminds me; why did Patriot and Stark get instantly knocked out when they touched them through the suits, anyway?

And why didn't Stark use the chest-laser more, since it apparently insta-killed them when he shot them through the heart?

Damn it, so many plot holes!

And of course, now that Killian is off the reigns of the thinktank AIM, that means that a little guy named George Tarleton can take over. MODOK!

Good. I'm always very excited for more Iron Man, and I'm glad that the newest one turns out to be good. (or at least, fun)
Looking forward to watching it!

Can't wait to see it.

But one question.
If Colonel Rhodes repaints the suit to be the "iron patriot," then who will be war machine? I remember in a big picture Moviebob mentioned that Harry Osbourne aka Green Goblin somehow becomes "the Iron Patriot."

Is there one post credits scene, or two like with Avengers and everyone missed the second one because they didn't know it was there.

And then he goes and breaks into the (not) super secure place where the mandarin is held. And bam exposition.

And why did Tony gave him his home address? And why was that needed, the mandarin hacked the freaking president's cellphone, surely he and most people knew where Tony lived.

And someone before me said the best thing about the twist:

Eh, I liked the film as a whole, but I lost interest after the twist.

I was dead set on having The Mandarin as an equal to Heath Ledgers Joker. Someone who challenges Stark intellectually and morally. The scene where he kills the hostage in front of the world made me think "yeah. This guy is intimidating and I look forward to the final showdown, because you know something's going to happen."

Then the twist happened, and I was left thinking "really? They pulled the old "The Man Behind The Man" trope, after they set up such an awesome villain?" It left quite a bitter taste in my mouth.

I saw it last night and it was a disgusting insult to comic fans. It's one thing to make small changes but what they did with the "twist" is pathetic and stupid. Avengers respected us, the comic book fans, and the movie was no worse off for it. IM 3 totally disrespects us and the movie suffers massively for it.

All of you who thought the twist was funny, more power to you. That just proves you have no love at all for the comic book universe and are ok with a film maker totally screwing with you.

Those of you who think it was a smart movie decision are also entitled to your opinion, even though your opinion is wrong as hell.

Bob, you lost all your comic-book cred with this one. How you could possibly think this is ok is beyond me.

I am not even getting into all the stupid inconsistencies and plot conveniences that make ZERO SENSE.

I wasn't impressed about the movie, especially the ending.

I am not going to spoil it, so let me just say, the "conclusion" to the series MovieBob refers to was clumsy and poorly executed... If people get pissed about the Mass Effect 3 ending, this should have a similar effect for similar reasons.

First time I've heeded spoiler warnings - thanks for putting them up, Bob. It's a classy option to extend while still satisfying the interested.

Allow me to summarize both of these posts for people who thought TL,DR. "I don't know shit about comic book movies and resent that a product based on previous products would expect me to be familiar of the original. Every movie should consider my ignorance, and make up for it! That's how we get awesome superhero movies like Tim Burton's BATMAN!!!:D Also Poop!" Your welcome.
Correction: I resent that a medium based on previous mediums is trying to introduce their worst tropes (Bucky breaks his own fucking rule for god's sake) to this medium, and one critic in particular is showing his bias by giving that medium a pass for shit he usually takes other movies to task for. Every movie should NOT be given a pass just for sticking to something in the source material for the fanboys even if it's a really terrible idea (like how Bob wants everything to look like the Silver/Golden Age of comics). That's how we get shit movies like Captain America!!! :D Also Poop!
