Interestingly enough, SNL did a "Veggie Tales Apocalypse"-type thing in a Saturday TV Funhouse segment titled "The Religetables".

We're The Religetables,
We always go to Church,
Tales of spirit we shall tell!

We're The Religetables,
We never touch ourselves,
Cause we don't want to go to Hell!

(That last bit is sung over an animation of a corn cob rubbing himself off in the bathroom to some veggie-porn, then falling through a dark portal onto a burning charcoal grill.)

At the end of the segment, it shows a scene of a tomato guy being caught in an egg-slicer, veggie-people being roasted on kabobs over open flames, and the rivers running red with V8. Hilarious.

The segment also featured scenes of witch trials, pedophile priests, the Crusades, and Islamic terrorism, all in the same animation style featured in Veggie Tales.

...what a pointless episode.

Here I was thinking that I would get a comparison of all the Post-Apocalyptia that Hollywood hasn't been able to stop gagging itself on, and instead we get a slapped-together editorial piece on Bob's opinion of the entire genre, complete with fav picks. And, of all the movies to stick on the list...what the hell, Bob? What about:

The Road
The Book of Eli
Zombieland
Any of Romero's Zombie Films
Terminator 2
The Postman
Logan's Run
Soylent Green
Children of Men
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
A Boy and His Dog
Equilibrium
12 Monkeys
Hitchhiker's Guide
Hell Comes to Frogtown
Escape from New York/L.A.
Cyborg
20 Years After
Sunlight
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Daybreakers
9
On the Beach [probably one of the best on this list]
The Quiet Earth
Tankgirl
Zardoz
WALL-E
Delicatessen
Akira
Metropolis
PLANET OF THE APES, FOR FUCK'S SAKE

The list goes on...

I went and picked up a copy of six string Samurai. My brother already fancies himself as one, except he plays the bass, and he wouldn't stop watching it. I liked it too but it had some annoying parts. the lack of budget was a bit too prevalent some times, there was some phoned in acting and just some flat out fucked up parts. Still, Buddy Holly is a freaking samurai and outrocked Death himself. now that is something everyone should see

I'm surprised you didn't mention "A Boy and His Dog" one of my personal favorites...
are there any other recommended Apocalypse movies?

...does Screamers count? Not a particularly good movie, but it had some interesting bits.

Thank's for telling me the answer at the end. I thought it was a cryptic message rather than song lyrics.

Bob, do you mean that the ending of The Birds was bleak because they were dumb enough to get in the cloth-top convertible instead of the hard-topped truck? Because, yeah... that kind of stupidity is pretty bleak.

The reason we think about world ending is because we either a) fear it and since fear is the strongest human emotion we logically create scenarios or b) want it to happen because we hate the world, society and stupid people who sell kidneys for ipad.
