[Labyrinth]

Oh yes! It's here! We have our Zion!

I, Labyrinth Pravitas Lyssea present the 2008 Escapicon.

The Setting

We have hired out a building. One section has been turned into a restaurant/bar/cafe, with full catering staff. Another has a selection of couches with television screens and consoles, along with area for computers and a sizable LAN hub. A third is the main conference theatre, rows of seats, with a podium and screen for multimedia presentations. Fourth and final is a curtained off section with bunk beds and bathroom facilities.


The Characters

I've decided to do something a little odd here. I wish people to select the description of themselves they like the most from The "I Bet He's Cockney" Thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.69703#668125] and roleplay that.

Of course, if you wish, you can make a mix of your favourites. It's all a matter of egoism. For those who are not mentioned or satisfied with their Cockney description, you can rebelliously write one yourself, or request that one be done for you in the Cockney thread. I'm sure you'll be obliged soon enough.

Edit: The above means that if you don't want your Cockney persona, make shit up. Use an established one if you wish, but for amusement's sake present the original description in a Cockney manner.


The Programme

For now, this is an "Expressions of interest" thread. I will open the roleplay itself on Sunday (Australian EST.) The initial time frame is a week, with various "Presentations" occurring on the Wednesday, including the Zero Punctuation in-person launch of next week's video. In truth, this can continue as long as people wish it to.

Beyond that, socialising is advised, and feel free to use the facilities as they appear. For "Games" played against each other, I'd suggest doing an online/X-Box Live style of thing then posting a roleplay based around that with the result.

And do i really need to use a Cockney Persona? I would venture i've mastered 'The Ultra Joe' as a character after many RP's including him. I mean me. I need to get to grips with this whole 'persona' thing.

The only issue, which has held the reigns on human progression, is the fact that the too-intelligent, insightful posts are often posted on the wrong forum. To be honest, it had almost run out of steam by the time you got there. Also, you did post some pretty funny descriptions...I liked the one where Khedive Rex was a game in Ultrajoe's PSP, the two of them had fun with that-

Eh, I might drop in for a little while over the course of this virtual convention. I'd like to express my doubt over how well it will work, though. I'm envisioning this as one of those parties where some people show up, hang around awkwardly for a while, and then make up excuses to leave. There's just not enough insperation to be roleplaying this.

If I turn out to be wrong and the thread suddenly comes alive Frankenstien-style, then I'll use my usual persona. I managed to slip under the radar of the "I Bet He's Cockney" thread, which I regard as a good thing.

Stuff like this works well in real-life. I'm thinking it'll lack the spark in cyberspace.
