I've been seeing all of these Escapism threads (UK, AU), and I was wondering if anyone was up to organize one for the Southern California members? I don't have the time to, but I'm just throwing out the idea for it for our Southern California members.

EDIT: What about a Comic-Con meet up? That seems like it could work

Might work; I live on the East Coast, but my parents have been talking about heading to LA for a few weeks at some point in the summer.

That isn't that likely to work for me though, so maybe someone (who isn't lazy like me) would like to set up a New York meet?

Now that I think about it....we're all nerds and geeks here, so a few of us are probably going to the Comic-con this year, which is in June, and in SoCal. Who would be up for that?

I live in the NO, that would be New Orleans and I don't think that most people that live in the good old gangster wannabe 504 go to trendy websites like the escapist in between getting gold teeth and complaining about the government while living off of welfare

Makes me wish I was still out there. Escapism L.A. or Escapism San Diego sounds way better than Escapism Mid-Western Hell. Oh well. One of these days.

We probably don't have enough people in the area of SoCal to have one. If we were to have one in the states, there might have to be two. One for the east coast, one for the west coast. But still, even so, we'd be alienating our midwest and southern members(like myself).

Places like Chicago and Las Vegas come to mind, but they are stll pretty far from other major population centers. The most logical thing to do would be to make three. East, West, and Central/South.

The thing about doing an Escapism in the US, is that we have such a huge landmass that US members span across. It's not like the UK where it's an island nation with most of the population centers are all fairly close together. Or like in australia where a lot of the population is concentrated in one smaller area.

Honestly, in order for an Escapism trip to happen in the US... It would take some serious planning and possible sponsorship.

That's why successful American Escapisms are never successful, because the US is just too damn big. For the UK one we've got people coming from all corners of the four countries, yet it'll only take 8 hours for the furthest person to travel. Good luck though!

EDIT* I'm not going to correct that, you can all stew in it.

Yeah, stinkychops is right. It was 95 degrees this afternoon.
I don't think you'll find too many Southern California natives here. But you may be able to gather a sizable group if something were arranged at Comic Con, Anime Expo, or E3.
