The City of Manchester

Home to the very famous Manchester United, so I'm told. Half a million people stranded 264 kilometres above London.
And soon, 30 Escapists.

For our non-English viewers, this is what "Manc" sounds like:

So nothing like the Estuary Accent that we usually get lumped with, right. Sorted.

Sky (Unofficial Bosslady) has already picked up some of our long travelling visitors, and the action really kicks off around midday Friday at Manchester Piccadilly, where we all meet up and get drunk.

(Ah, UK Licensing Laws :) )

You can tune into the fun on Twitter using @Escapism_UK and the hashtag #esc11

We're still waiting for America and Canada to do a Proper Escapism, but in the mean time, you can check back on the events of the past.

The Land Down Under have their own little versions of Escapism as well, but they don't leave easy tags for me to find them, so I'm sure @Labyrinth
will put them in later. :)

Can't wait to get up at 7am, then have a 3 and a half hour train journey! Sadly then there are three days of fun before I get to take another exciting 3 and a half hour train trip.

I am very much looking forward to it all.

Dammit Root, I thought the title this year was "Invasion of the Mikes"!
Thar be five of us, after all.

I shall be there, camera in hand. Ready to capture all that footage of JUUBs being taken.

Best name ever.

I'm sad I can't be there this year, but I will be going next year I promise you all. Last year was a blast.

No offences but isn't this abit short notice?
Even if it was mention a week earlier I wouldn't be able to attend since I had arrange plan to go the MCM Expo next Satuday in Manchester (I'm short on cash at the moment but enough to go to the Expo).

Hmm, I haven't been to Manchester since my "wild" teenage years.

Maybe I should go tomorrow. If I'd known earlier, I might have gone today. Wonder if I'll see more than Afflecks and a gay bar...

Not really, the plans have been underway since January. If you join the Escapism UK group, you can see how much work Sky and Spy have.already put into it.
There's talk of Devon next time.

Day 1 consisted of walking up a lot of stairs, picking people up, going to t'pub, wandering, food, Forbidden Planet (I think, anyway - I wandered off to meet latecomers at the station) and Batman Live.

I'd go into more detail, but a) I didn't go to see Bats, and b) I'm knacked.
Neeeeed sleeeeeeep.

I believe tomorrow starts with paintballing. Of course, there's no way in hell I'll be up in time...

I'll have you know that Canada did already have one. Although, it was quite small and, as far as I know, will not continue this year to become an annual event. We're simply too spread out and many people just don't want to organize. I'd do it, if it didn't require turning up.

Our very own Baby Tea organized Escapism Toronto 2010 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.201452-Escapism-Toronto-2010-Success] whereat he and five others met up and had an interesting day.
They even made their own usergroup [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Escapism-Toronto].

.
Hopefully the weekend turns out well with not too many dead bodies for the Mancunians to deal with.
