Note to the mods - please do let me post this as I think it's important and I really do want this site to earn the money it needs!
This is a heads-up to all adblockers who feel guilty about taking advantage of free content but, like me, felt forced into it by the sheer intrusiveness of the ads that were taking over at The Escapist. Well - at least in my region, I'm happy to say that this site is once more usable, ads and all. No more pop-ins and pop-overs, and most of all, no more ads that play sound.
I don't know how long it's been like this but I'm assuming this is a policy shift at the site in response to the negative feedback from users (and I'm guessing, diminishing ad revenue), and I'm very happy to be unblocking the site once again and encourage anyone else who has been disabling ads here to do so as well.
Oh - and as always, I recommend that you don't reply with anything that looks remotely like encouraging the blocking of ads, since you're liable to get a warning!
