Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that every single non-ZP video begins with the exact same Slim Jim ad?

The oft ridiculous, aimed specifically at 13 year old boys commercial where-in 2 plucky youths enter a distant temple in search of... You know what? I cant even go on. Its -THAT- banal.

It could just be me. Maybe everyone else is seeing a different ad. As I mentioned, I never see ads on Yahtzee's videos. (And considering that he is pretty much the Strongbad to Escapists Homestar Runner's, maybe thats obvious.)

I know we need to generate revenue, and I wouldnt dream in a million years of asking TE to stop doing -anything- that would cause them to lose revenue, because I quite frankly love TE in all forms. (Especially the "Form of Batgirl" form. Thats awesome. There is one of those, isnt there?)

But could we at least get different ads?

(Not to mention, I dislike this ad in and of itself, because I tend to view TE as an "adult" oriented video-game website. I wont look for statistics into the age demographics of the site-viewers, but it would be nice to see ads pointed at people who arent idealizing WWE champions, and whose inner selves dont have ridiulous goatees.)

But yeah...
They can't annoy you that much, they're maybe a couple of minutes long at most? Just look away and cover your ears. Or you could subscribe to the Escapist if you're desperate to remove these stains from you browsing history for good.
Someone's got to contribute the money I can't be bothered to pay. Might as well be you.

You know, it actually never occured to me to seek out an "upgraded" Escapist model. You learn something new everyday.

huh, i only get adds for the publisher club, and they are short and have some nice music so they dont bother me, but i get where youre coming from, the longer commercials annoy me on sites like thatguywiththeglasses.com, but their videos are usually 15+ minutes long, not 4.

so i do feel sorry for you.

Publisher's Club is worth the price of admission. No ads, high-res videos, a special forum, and a cool custom title for $20 a year, plus you're supporting one of the most awesome sites on the Internet, giving the good folks at Themis Media capital to invest in finding the next Extra Credits or ZP or Doraleous and Associates (or the next Game Dogs, but hey, can't win 'em all.)

Honestly, you're not the first person I've seen complaining about this very same ad. That all said, it doesn't make any big difference. Your hope to find other people who dislike the ad will do nothing. Just put up with it. It can't possibly be as bad as the ads I got before I joined the Pub club. Can't you just mute the mute the volume or do something in a seperate browser while you wait for the advert to go down? Complaining about it doesn't make it go away. And before you ask, no, the site is PG-13. As far as the Slim Jim guys go, they suspect that their fanbase is on this site. They assumed wrong, but that doesn't refrain from the fact that they had they paid for the space.

Just mute it and go look at other web pages then come back to the page and rewind the video back to the beginning
