Escapist Adverts...

Ads don't bother me very much, what bothers me is that there are *several* ads and hidden scripts that install tracking cookies on my browser, without my consent. That's just plain rude.

Uhh..The escapist needs income, and guess what provides?

The ads are there as a way for the website to make money in order to function. Its not free and is costing money to host the awesome videos that they put up. It might seem like an irritation to you, but they are not there because they want them to be there. They are there cause they HAVE to be there.

That's how I feel about it. I wish they could have a variety of them though. I prefer if I could one of 2 or 3 different ads instead of a single ad for just one game or product on every single video. As long as it keeps the site free, I'm fine with an ad.

Thanks man, this is my point exactly. I am not against the advertising, I will sit through it. My point is that I have seen the same 'Faster' advert probably upwards of 30 or 40 times now. If it were 2 or 3 different adverts, it wouldn't bug me anywhere near as much.

OK, just to post again, I'm pretty glad a few of you agree with me on this. The Escapist is a good site. I'm just asking for a little more variety. I'm sure the follow-ons, revenue and everything else would be better if there were a few ads, rather than one.

I do agree with some people though, specifically the guy who commented on the Reach ads on Youtube, I actually boycotted Youtube while that was going on. The Escapist is positively reserved compared that.

Upon reflection, I think I was just a bit bugged this morning, wanted to vent a little, and it's not going to stop me coming on, I just really hope they tone it down a little, or mix up the adverts a bit. I'm not interested in 'Faster', not now, not ever, so maybe advertise something else once in a while?
