I'm noticing that the quick reply down below has the captcha improperly placed and cannot be interacted with. Not a big deal though since you can just hit the "Post" button and do the captcha there. Also, quote notification links are missing "http:" at the front for some reason.

I've noticed that the site has struggled a touch lately. Nothing Earth shattering or whatnot but at least over the weekend, new threads wouldn't show up for about ten minutes or so. A handful of times where the site wouldn't load and you had to reload.

Nothing too terrible, I'm guessing the hamsters are just slacking off now that the Holidays are coming. Worst case scenario, blame Kross.

Looking at the results I think they working on the backend database. Half of the issues are caused by slower than normal database response time

Yeah, same, though I notice you can click on the person's name and go straight to the post anyway, which I just never did before.

Just to remind everyone that this site has a Tech Team usergroupgroup that directly informs the keepers of the website's server hamsters. They are pretty snappy at fixing things that you post there as well, everything from misconfigured front page articles to forum glitches.

Oh, and just to remind everyone.

EDIT:

Here's the Tech Team chat. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/chat/Tech-Team

Has the captcha changed for anyone else? I'm not getting the SolveMedia ones anymore.

Indeed, don't I know it. A thread of mine has gone completely walkabout, and I've been wrestling with various means of contact to try and get it restored again.

This is the error when someone tries to open my thread:

And yes, I've tried "contacting a site administrator for assistance", but so far it's been fruitless and my thread has remained completely unrecoverable.

Have they fired all their code monkeys or something? That would explain why no one seems to know how to fix these on-going problems.
I remember working at an office workplace where the management fired all the IT code monkeys (to cut costs), which turned out to be an extremely poor management decision, because when things inevitably broke, no one knew how to fix it.

Isn't it glorious? Now, instead of spending five minutes trying to post what I just wrote I just have to confirm I'm not a robot and be done with it.

Anyway, the only thing I'm concerned about is that it may be what's keeping me from being able to use the new avatar I had made for me. Well, it's that or Photobucket is being a piece of shit. Could be both.

Just to explain the joke, he's been going on about how one of his older threads got the ax because a Banjumper spammed it after it had already been inactive for several months.
He's been explained why it was locked and why moderation don't want to restore it, he's just really salty about it.

If you're having site problems the Tech staff are more likely to see it if you report it here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Tech-Team] or here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/contact/]. Thanks :)
