I'm bored and have no idea what I wanna do, I know for once I want to do something productive and I'm trying to teach myself how to make games. I have a 2D programming book that deals with sprites and c++ and stuff that I'm about 1/3-1/2 of the way through and then I've got a 3D programming book which I haven't started yet. My original plan was to do the 2D book, make atleast 3 original games and then move on to the 3D one, but I'm at a part in the 2D book where its getting a little annoying because I'm going back through an older game and changing some of the code for it to make it run better with the new shit the book teaches me...So, should I do something boring and tedious and stick to my plan, or go have fun with 3D work?

Stick with your plan

Cutting corners will only lead to problems that will force you to go back anyways. When you make a plan, You stick with it, no matter what. Understand?

Set everything on fire, cover yourself in green jello and run through the streets shouting they're coming.
Fun times will be had by all

When I'm bored I listen to music really loudly and sing along (this is when I'm home alone obviously). In your case, it really depends, are you doing this for fun or for the skills, if you want to have fun do the 3-D, if you want skills do 2-D first.

When i'm bored i make tasty pastrys for the whole family.
Cooking is a good hobby, I love cooking for the family

I recently made a (darn good if I say so myself) dish of rice with vegetables and chicken in teriyaki sauce and the family loved it. killed my boredom and gave me a sense of accomplishment

so the moral: take up cooking. fatten them up so it will be harder for them to run when you take over the world.

You sound like a teacher or something, but you have a point.

Do a barrel roll.
No seriously, hear me out. Getting the skills to man and fly a plane and have then skills to do a barrel roll, I would say that's a decent career path

I can't help it, I used all of my inspiration on some guy who was on the verge of paying for grades.

And thank you.

The absolute absurdity of that comment made me laugh...

OT: do the 2D one.

Now.
