I'm sure this has beenn mentioned before but I've been away for a little while...

What is with the new pop out video player, it means I have to click, wait, then click again to play videos. And I have to click the tiny little [close] in the top left in order to navigate away from the page. Further more it slows my netbook down and all in all just doesn't seem like an improvement over the old system.

Does anyone else share my view or am I insane? Also does anyone know why The Escapist made the change?

Thanks, Fish King.

It comes 'round every now and then as part of some advertising agreement.
This has been an educated guess brought to you by Oliver Nue. Me. Yeah that's right.
A guess.

Ahhh I see, well thats good that it's not here to stay then, I thought there might be an advert attached to it, however I can't see ads, I sometimes forget they exist.

It's not always a good thing, and I suspect there's a hole in the codec somewhere. Usually there's an ad there for an upcoming large title, like that new WoW stuff. The WoW ads were replaced with Dishonored ones for a time, but then went back last week to WoW with the same ad used before the release. I had to double take at the date.

So~
Again, likely to be a part of advertising agreements to keep the lights on and feed the writers in the basement, but it's not very well executed.

I've thought about turning my Ad Blocker off for this site, but I find the adverts way too intrusive and they make me not want to visit the site. a minute long advert before watching a 5 minuet product is a little excessive.

A 'skip' button like youtube wouldn't go amiss, since if it's an interesting advert that I haven't already seen 100 times that week I'll prolly sit through it without noticing.

What's that? I can't hear you over my 1.2GHz dual-core processor.
(No, really, what do you mean a more mobile friendly player?)

I mean a video player that loads and plays more elegantly over a mobile device, like my phone.

Currently I CAN watch on my phone but it's a nightmare.
