O hai!
I got my second tattoo yesterday, a fairly sizeable thigh piece of a phoenix rising. It took four hours, and I'm not gonna lie, it hurt. I'm still paying for it today.
It also made me think about how I've yet to see a thread on the Escapist which allows people to show off their tattoos - I've seen a few 'show us your face!' type threads, but none dedicated to ink. So, I thought I'd fill that void.
This is my first tattoo, lovingly nicknamed "wolfie". I got him for two reasons:
1. I love wolves (and canines in general).
2. My nan used to own a pack of Alsatians; I loved her and I loved her dogs. This was a kind of memorial type tattoo. I would have just got an Alsatian, but I figured a wolf would look much better in black and grey.
This is my second tattoo, my beloved phoenix! I got her because she represents the stronger side of me, and is a visual reminder that no matter what life throws at me, I always manage to recover and to rebuild myself. (Plus, phoenixes are awesome). You may notice that the ashes at the bottom are girl-shaped.. she's hunched over with her head on the right-hand side. She's basically becoming a phoenix.
It's also dawned on me that technically it could be classed as a Borderlands 2 reference (yay firehawk?) but that actually wasn't intentional. It was the symbolism I was more interested in.
I also leave with you a few questions:
What tattoos do you have?
What do your tattoos mean to you/Why did you get them?
Do you have any more planned? (Or if you don't have any tattoos, do you have any planned?)
