Sorry about your loss, bro.

Looks like it's time to move on to bigger and better things.

*cough*PS3orPCmaster-race,takeyourpick*cough*

OT: My N64 still works perfectly. Can't say the same for the cartridges, though. And I have had it since I was three so it's been in my possession for, oh... 13 years?

I just wish my PS2 didn't bite the dust in '05. I had to get the slimmer one, rendering all of my PS1 discs useless.
Funny, I have a slim and it plays ps1 discs.

OT: My consoles won't matter as soon as people develop an emulator for them. I'll have all my games forever. But until I have a computer capable of running a %100 working PS2 emulator, I take very good care of my baby.

This isn't exactly my longest lasting piece of tech, but I bought one of those LG Chocolate phones at launch, and the damn thing still works. I don't use it anymore, I traded up to an Android smartphone, but my dad uses it now, after his last phone crapped out on him after only 2 months of use.

So yeah, I have a cellphone that's been working for 6 years without a single problem or defect. I'd say that's pretty damn impressive in this day and age.
Ok, I have to take my hat off to this one. My brother had an LG Chocolate and it was possible the most fragile, unreliable phone I've ever seen. A lot of friends had them too, and the longest any one model lasted was around 3 months. So how yours is still working after what must be at least 3 years now (I can't remember exactly when it came out) I don't even know.
It came out in 2006, so it's 6 years old now, not 3.

My Nokia 3220, released in 2004 and still works. That being said I now use a Lumia 800. The 3220 could survive a nuclear blast.
Nokias don't count though. Everyone knows that the only things that can survive a direct nuclear blast are cockroaches and Nokia phones.

My PS2's still working after...dear god I feel old...around 8 years of service? It's kinda like serenity now. Sometimes needs a couple of tries to get going, has the occasional hiccup...but it'll keep you flyin'.

I still use my Gameboy advance occasionally. The ability to see through a thick screen has diminished from my gameboy colour days, but it works well enough.

Oh, and my PS2 is right at my desk, played some Ratchet:Gladiator a few days ago on it.

Not sure what my oldest is but probably either the SNES or Game Gear I got both in 1993 I believe and both still work perfectly (although I hardly ever play the game gear). The SNES was built to last its probably the most reliable console/computer ive ever had.

Still got a Megadrive that works; though technically it belongs to my dad, I just haven't bothered to give it him back yet.
Something that I actually owned was my Ps1, which sadly died earlier this year after first recieving it in 1996.

I can't list all of the old tech we got we had a PC with an Intel 166 MHZ CPU from 1991. It only died recently.

My family keeps all the old tech. Infact my dad still uses and old AMD single core celeron in his PC because Linux works on just about everything.

Me and my Xbox Jessica send our regards it is always sad to see an old loud heavy Xbox die the small ones just don't have personality so in answer to your question yes I have become attached to a piece to tech especially when she recovered from the red ring of death and I don't like thinking about the day I may have to say goodbye to her :(

Damn you, Flextronics, Wistron, and/or Celestica! Damn you!
Oh wait, they were contracted by -gasp-
...nevermind.

My Atari 2600 still works. Had it for... 26 years? On top of that are my NES, SNES, Genesis, Playstation, Dreamcast, PS2 (all 3 of 'em... I traveled a lot and kept leaving 'em behind) and PS3.
I've actually never had a game console die on me.

My dad's NES would probably still work if I bothered to try. 'Course, the only cartridge we've got for it is the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt combo cart, and I don't know whether or not my mom got rid of the zapper.
We've also still got a Pentium II, Windows 98 PC sitting in our basement. We finally chucked the monitor a few months ago, but it as well as the tower, keyboard, and printer (but not mouse) that we still have worked the last time we tried.
As for me personally, I've got a Gameboy Advance and 4-way link cable that still work, though the former's battery cover broke after only 3 years or so. On the other hand, my laptop just killed its third hard drive in as many years.

I bought an Archos Jukebox when it first came out and kept it up until I bought and iPhone 3GS. People used to actually make fun of me for still having it. I was heartbroken when it broke.

My first PS2 managed to survive 10 years and maybe 2 months of frequent use.

I'm not really sure how, nothing else I've owned has really come close.

I had a playstation 1 that lived for almost 5 years, and then the little netallic ball things started falling out of it.

My first Xbox 360 lived from the release of Dead Rising until the release of Gears of War 3. Just over 5 years. It stopped reading games, and simply wanted to live out its final days without work.

that was a nice eulogy :)

in answer to your question, my gen 1 PS2 (the big brick like one). she, much like Xavier, was there for me to banish boredom when ever it reared its head. with her at my side i was able to lay low armys of monster, demons, the undead, and what ever else. she was there when i lead the demon hoard to march on Heaven (SMT: Nocturne ending), she was there when i stopped Albert Simon, Kato Masaji, and 'Lady' from bringing about the end of the world (Shadow hearts 1,2 and 3) as well as my less reputable work as a Raven (Armored Core). it was sad the day i discovered she no longer had the strength to continue (no longer reading disks) but time had finally caught up with her, it was just her time.

My oldest piece of tech would probably be the laptop I'm on right now. Got it about 7 years ago, treated it like a desktop, but it's starting to show its age and it's beyond outdated.

Thanks :) It's actually going to be kind of hard getting rid of him. I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. I'll save the hard drive of course so I don't lose all my saves (huh, I just realised I guess I could view that as some form of reincarnation, or something...) but as for what to with the rest. I'm not sure I could bring myself to smash it, or throw it unceremoniously in the rubbish.
