There's nothing special about this forum, bar the fact people like to pretend the community is somehow superior to other forums...
Pretty much what I came to say, it'd be pretty funny if it wasn't so sad.

Not visiting the Religion and Politics board.

Also, not checking any threads to do with Lisa Foiles (poor girl).

Also, good mods.

Well, i've been here a while, and although I don't post that much I can see that although the mods do mop up the shit, people here seem to instantly reject the kind people who break the forum rules and generally try and piss people off, and most people from what I see "don't feed the trolls".

The mods keep us all in line. if you troll here you don't receive any mercy and rightly so.
There my be trolls from time to time but they vanish quickly.
That's true. But that doesn't explain why the overall responses are so positive in this site?
That's probably due to the fact that the majority of the content here is silly and humorous, which in turn breeds happiness and silly people who are generally positive.

I have to agree with that. The mods are alot quicker to crack down on things here than on most sites.

Only difference are some good mods, this board are no more intelligent than the rest of the net.

We're not. At all.
We're the internet equivalent of a Hermit, we see the bad parts of the rest of the internet exclusively and just assume it's all like that and we're an internet sanctuary. Look, I love this place, but there's a reason a lot of people think we're pretentious 'intellectual' gits.

Um... our trolls are entertaining rather than offensive.
You've never been to 4chan's /lit/ or /tg/, have you?
I tend to steer clear of /lit/ and /tg/.
Then you're missing out on some seriously lulzy shit.

I find the trolls here to be generally boring, bitchy and arrogant. 4chan boards, on the other hand, always manages to produce some new form of trololololing.
I don't steer clear of 4chan in general. /lit/ and /tg/ just aren't my interests. /int/, /jp/, /sci/, and /c/ have been keeping my interests of late.

Strict moderation. Can't say I agree with it 100% of the time, but at least 90% is well done and keeping it strict makes people think twice before behaving like jackasses (which is something people should really do everywhere, all the time)

It's a combination between a swiftly-worked b&hammer and the fact that most of the articles on the Escapist are about news/reviews/game design philosophy. There's just not much here to interest trolls. How would you even troll the Escapist?

...."Listen, this post is totally not a troll, but everyone is always hating on games with good graphics and no story or gameplay. I think graphics are the most important part of a game, and also that Muslims are bad, web 2.0 is fake, the singularity is not near, and Madden 2010 is the best game ever."

Or something?
