Well, I finally upgraded to Windows 7 (two weeks till launch) I'd like to say it's pretty damn good. What do the escapist think about windows 7 so far?

Edit: Now, I hated vista, HATED it It annoyed me to death with its terrible interface. But my experiances with Windows 7 is the interface EPIC I can acess everything and all that I need and ever want in a few clicks, It's simply amazing. Words can't describe how this system kicks ass. I have the premium 64 bit system right now, And my Computer Grade is 5.9 (pretty nice but not untill I get Direct 11.x I highly recommend it to anyone who is tierd of vista and anyone who was forced to go back to XP because of the high level of annoyance (me) This is more or less a Review, But I'd like to see what the escapists have to say about Windows 7! Please Comment on what you think of Vista, And if you have Windows 7 sent to you, What do you think of it.

Edit 2: I have the final version, Premuim. No trail thow, Highly recommend you get Windows 7.

So I am relatively stupid when it comes to upgrading a laptop. (or any computer for that matter) If I am running Vista and were to buy Windows 7 upgrade or whatever it is for $120,is there a complicated method of installation that I would need to know? On another note if I were to change would I need to store all my computer files on an external hard drive to prevent loosing them before I did the update?

its always a good idea to back up important information. Windows upgrades are pretty easy, pop in the disk, click upgrade and it will upgrade everything.

Personally, I love it. Participated in the RC and I'm stoked for it. I work retail, so I'm getting Ultimate for 10 bucks.

I'm running RC 1 on my desktop, I love it. Though I;m not to keen on having to downgrade back to vista in march.

I've heard very positive things so far, and I won't be getting any time soon since my laptop is a mac and my desktop is kind of old and still running xp, but my more computer savvy family members are looking into it.

I'm hoping it's good for their sake, vista was not good to them.

You know, back when I was in college, the IT guys claimed that we could continue to use our school email system forever. Cue graduation, and me being suddenly unable to log in anymore. They didn't even let me connect through, like, Thunderbird to download my old messages. One of these days I might drop them a line and find out what the deal was with that. If that's really all Microsoft requires...

MSDN registered school/people get it free as of right now. Its pretty awesome. Working on getting it installed now.

I've been running windows 7 for about 10 months now (closed / open beta + release candidate), and I have to say I love it. Fast, stable, amazingly memory efficient, no crashes, no bottlenecks, all my hardware works with no fiddling, easy as networking, fast booting, really really really quick install.

I'm 2/3 convinced that microsoft had nothing to do with the programming of Win7 at all, instead outsourcing it to a company that actually knows how to use c. The 1st beta I got was more stable and reliable than windows xp or vista ever were.

For the first time since windows 3.11, I think I may buy a microsoft product.

I know I will have to upgrade from XP eventually, but why should I? I ignored vista until it came preinstalled on my netbook. After using it some months I can see that it offers no advantages that I can discern (and it's painfully slow at times). Windows 7 promises to be faster than vista, yes, but better than xp? In what way? Mind you, I'd be paying full price.

How's the compatibility with games? I'd like to get hold of it, as it does both 32 and 64 bit programs( which is freaking awesome).
But, have you had any issues with game or RAM compatibilities?
As for Vista, I never planned on upgrading to it. It looked horrible and I was right.

The 32 bit runs perfectly with all games, And the 64 bits runs outstanding, I've been playing TF2 and I can now "Tab" out and jump right back in without having to wait ten minutes for it to phase back in, It's just an outstanding system. Vista is complete shit. I have 32 and 64 with the Premium and It's pretty damn good. RAM compatibility is a *****, But if you have a 2005+ computer standardized I'm pretty sure you won't have to boost your RAM.
