It's amazing how many games have come out of the woodwork now that publishers are no longer required.

i loved eternal darkness. the scene with the bathtub scared the shit out of me back in the day and the way the game fucked with you head and broke the 4th wall was amazing. i have no problem helping this game become a reality but i guess my question would be is it being designed for WiiU and pc separatey, like they did with the witcher 2, or is it just being made for one and then ported to the other. i have no intention of getting a WiiU, as it stands now, and i cant image a pc game that was designed for the WiiU would look or perform particularly well

Eternal Darkness was M rated in the states? It only had a 15+ rating here which(if I'm getting the US rating system correct)would be the equivalent of a T rating.
T starts at 13, M starts at 17. A game that's 15 overseas is likely "too mature" for 13 year olds.
Ratings here are *very* different, though. The PSN release of Final Fantasy VIII, for instance, has a T rating in the US but a 16+ rating in Europe. I think Final Fantasy IX, XII and XIII have similar discrepancies, too. And then the PS1 release of GTA 2 also got an 18 rating in the UK, while it only got a "T" rating in the US. As far as I know, there's no difference in content, either.

An ESRB M rating normally translates to an 18+ rating on this side of the pond, with just a few exceptions.

OT: I loved Eternal Darkness but I'm going to remain sceptical about this for now. There are an awful lot of indie horror games being made at the moment and at least one AAA horror title, so it has a lot to compete against.

The fact that Dyack is on board actually ruins this for me. I didn't hate Too Human, and ED and Twin Snakes were great, but that guy doesn't inspire confidence in me. I feel like Silicon Knights have had their successes in spite of him, rather than because of him.
Have to agree with your sentiment. Fact is, as much as I liked Eternal Darkness at the time, I can't say I have any desire to support a company that that unmitigated asshole is a part of anymore. If he weren't involved I'd be slightly more interested.

Now, while I quite liked The Twin Snakes for the gameplay changes it made to the original Metal Gear Solid, Silicon Knights really caught lightning in a bottle with Eternal Darkness and never did anything else noteworthy.
Nothing else noteworthy? Uh, might I direct your attention to a certain Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain? Though I will concede that Silicon Knights never did anything noteworthy AFTER Eternal Darkness.
I'd love my attention to be directed toward it, but it's so old now at this point that I couldn't get it running on my laptop when I tried.
Understandable.

If you have PS3, PSP, or Vita you can get it from PSN for $6. Short of hunting down a working PS1 and the PS1 disc, that's the only other way to play it.

It's on the PSN?

Hm, I may have to jump on that at some point...

Would I be right in assuming that none of the PS2 titles in the franchise are available on the PSN yet?

Well since we're all here, whatever happened to the rest of the Too Human trilogy? I'm sure that's what we were all really hoping for.

Last time I checked many months ago, only the PS1 games (the first Blood Omen and Soul Reaver) were up. I had to track down the PS2 titles in physical form. Hard to find, but GameStop is selling them for 3-7 bucks apiece.

Again, that was about five months ago. Things may have changed since.

NOPE! I absolutely, positively refuse to give them money after what I read about Silicon Knights and Dennis Dyack. He does not deserve anyone's money. This man is known to screw over publisher after publisher and have nothing but cruelty towards his employees, I'm not doing it.

I'm sorry but I just don't trust Denis Dyack at all. If he is anywhere near this then I am out.

It's a continuation of a GameCube franchise?

Denis Dyack isn't it

Anyway good news I suppose if it works out.ED was one of the best GC games.Kinda surprised Nintendo didn't pick this up seeing as it's probably one of the most requested sequels from the GC era
Were I a betting man then my bet is that they didn't want to conflict their child friendly image of the Wii with a sequel to an M rated game.
They're not anywhere near as bad about that as people seem to believe. Examples:

I think the discrepancy comes from Nintendo's first party offerings being family friendly. As in, fun for kids and adults. They're game for third parties bringing screwdrivers to the jugular, decapitation, sex, and a dude taking a shit, but a lot of people seem to look past that.

I was interested until I saw that Dyack was involved. I've met him, and he's kind of a dickweed.
